a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library

What a terrible time for all of you, thinking of you all xxx
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Thank you, all you lovely people.

I had a good day with dd yesterday - we started making a papier mache hot air balloon, went on a little bike ride, and then she scooted with me while I jogged. We went via the playground where we had a compulsory stop and play, and then on down the big hill home. On said hill, dd's brakes were insufficient and she whizzed away, far too fast. Eventually she rode towards the grass verge and leapt off. She faceplanted (a family sport, it seems) and bounced and rolled. My jog became a sprint! Amazingly, we were just dealing with bumps and bruises. Phew!

    So, what will today hold...?

Hi AppleMuncher - I am sorry to hear your news. I'm sure we all offer you warm hugs and warm sympathy. Allow me to echo what you wrote - my grandfather died in his early 90's, followed quickly by my nan in her mid 80's in the last year or so. They were both healthy, cooked, washed, cleaned, gardened for themselves. My dad was found rejoice that they both had an excellent quality of life and a long one at that too! It appears your dad was similar. Meanwhile, well done on your for supporting your sister, mum and daughter, and finding time for yourself too.

    Craig Ballantyne says:

"Say NO to taking on too much. Stop making too many commitments, putting other people’s projects in front of your own priorities, and refusing to block off time for your family and your health. Over-extending yourself hurts everyone and takes away from your BIG impact. It's OK to say NO. You must make the right decisions for YOU and your family. Doing more doesn't always mean doing better, and doing better doesn’t always require that you do more."

I like this. I am grateful that I am able to drop everything and be with family. Nothing else is as important. And I am no good to them if I do not sleep enough or eat well and look after them as well as I can.

My sister is one amazing cookie - the amount she has achieved since sending me home is rather scary! Anyone need a project manager??? But I think she is near cracking point and needs to get away once I am back there...

By tomorrow, we should have heard from the coroner, know from the hospital about dates for mum's operation, and be able to set the whole funeral process in motion. And finally tell the official bodies about dad. Has it really only been one week?
