We have been to Thor's Cave (and back again). Well worth it! No silly H and S barriers to stop people climbing all around inside. Tis an awesome dwelling place and an awesome stretch of the legs to get to!
Total mileage was about 5.25m, almost 90 floors and over 10k steps. It was an uppy downy route - a lot of downy for the first 2m and then a lot of uppy to the cave, then the reverse. Dd did extremely well, but did need (yep, a true need) a couple of piggy backs from me and shoulder rides from dh. We contemplated a flatter route back along the Manifold Trail but that would have been twice the distance - dd said 'no way' so over the fields we tramped, and I reckon it was a much nicer and more scenic route.
We are all bathed - can't believe it's only mid-afternoon!!!
Tomorrow will probably not involve walking quite so far...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
ooh - just looked up Thor's Cave - looks an amazing place! Have never been to that part of the UK (Isn't it silly how much of our beautiful country we never visit!)
Have a lovely time, apple!

another one who had to google Thors Cave
Amazing
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I'd not heard of it either before we got here! We pplan to go and hire bikes one day and cycle the Manifold trail as it's not too long.
Today was a visit to the local market town, where we - obviously - went round some charity shops and found some bargainaceous buys. Mostly for dd, naturally. She is into what we call China dolls - ones that usually go on a stand. She found a Tyrolean boy one for £2, a Barb1e dvd that she doesn't have, some excellent books, and a desgnafriend doll for £2.
Me, I found some wool. 5 balls of it, because I clearly do not have enough... I also acquired a new waterproof from Mi11ets, in their sale. I have wanted one for several months but never felt like it when near that sort of shop. Today the can-be-bothered and the shop coincided!
Off to work on the sparkly grey monster, then choose which of my new wools to use next.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Only got 2 rows of a foot done - offered to go with dd to the playground and of course she said yes! It is 1 mile away, downhill there and uphill back. It was worth the effort (and got my steps up!) as the weather was decent. We started going along a footpath, but lost it so climbed over the gate to the road and just walked along there. I did have to piggy back dd some of the way home - tired little legs.
And now, tea is eaten (very early for us big people), dh has somehow messed up the telly (switched it to analogue????), dd is reading, and I shall get on with the grey foot.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Grey monster body parts all finished, now I must force myself to do his eyes before starting the next monster... Only brought 1 set of needles, so I have to complete a project before moving on.
Tis a gloomier day today and the far-reaching views have been foreshortened by low cloud. But we all slept very late (dd clambered in with us at some point, then kicked off the covers, then wriggled, then wriggled some more, then pulled the covers back, then wriggled. Then I put her back in her own bed!). So late in fact that we are here for HUTH - yay!
Today may involve seeking out a soft play place...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
We sought out a soft play place and dd enjoyed herself. Then we walked up to the local park and found a playground. So, plenty of walking and I have also done a workout. Go me!
Fierce Friday: 4x: 20 squat jump with touchdown; 15 each leg skater + touchdown; 20 reptile; 20 1-leg hop and kick.
Must get focussing on Sept and set up an exercise plan to half term...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Started on a 9 week (2 month) plan...
Dd took us out for an evening walk: rather downhill followed by rather uphill. Gotta love them hills! So my steps are over 10k. And she went to sleep quite quickly for her. Result.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
