Ok ive just found out ive got an even bigger reason to stashbust now and not buy any more stash - my hubby is being made redundant. And if that wasnt bad enough it looks like his only work options will be for us to all move to scotland or for him to work away for half the year and not be at home for the kids!
The only positive I suppose its one hell of a reason to actually stash bust properly and stop the cheating here and there I have and buying bits and bobs like i have been doing!
Im off to a craft fair today to hopefully sell some of my creations and destash a bit more!Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -

I'm sorry to hear about the redundancy Crafting mad. You've been an inspiration to all of us to stash bust, and I hope that you will continue to do so.
I think I will rejoin this in the new year. My depression has still not been good at the moment, and my inspiration and creativity is out the window too. I've been neglecting my craft, my blog...and myself. I'm hoping December will be the month I start feeling myself again.0 -
Craftingmad, if the inspiration you have given us to get us all stashbusting is anything to go by, you and your family will come through this difficult time. You have imagination and determination.

I have to confess the red was what was left over from a skirt I made - about 1970  I think that confirms that I hoard stuff! :rotfl: The black I used for the lining and back is only a few years old. But I was strong and threw away every last scrap that I didn't use (and there were some serviceable - ish bits) of both fabrics. :A

Thank you for all your lovely words. I am feeling a little bit more positive today although still feeling understandable worried. The problem we have is that we are lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world where house prices are low (hence why we currently live in a fairly large 5 bedroom house) but if we have to move prices are way more expensive and we may have to go down to a 3 bedroom. This would be a squeeze after what we currently have and I know that realistically I would have to get rid of most of my craft stash as I can't ask the kids to compromise and get rid of their bits.
Nothing else for it but to stash bust like my life depends on it
I can declare a further 24 items made as the kids and I have finished their activity advent calendar just in time. This managed to use up some small envelopes (which have been in my stash for ages), Christmas papers (again in stash for donkey's), mirri card, plain cardstock, foam Christmas shapes, felt reindeers, gems, buttons, ribbon, glitter glue and funky foam (another stash item from yonks ago!).
I still can't see any improvement in the stash yet though!!!
Today's project will be decorating some photo calendars ready for Christmas presents for nanny and granddads and aunties and uncles.

I have been scrappbooking / junk journaling for the last few days.
I have 10 to add to my total - 7 of which are double pages and hopefully soon to be added to...
When I have finished the book i'll count that too...
Given how much i've crammed in the book i'll probably have to take some pages out the middle or it will never close - but I will use them to make another junk journal with...
Have also used up 3 rolls of wrapping paper - I even used the cardboard paper thing in the middles - in the junk journal...
still have a few to go - and will in the January sales get a few bits...

I vaguely recall a couple of months ago when I mentioned that I had written a book people were interested in it. If anyone is still interested please check my blog for latest news.
Hope everyone's crafting is going well. I have started getting ideas again, but haven't yet done anything.0 -
Hello
I have been away for ages however I would like to jump back into the stash busting again
Craftingmad so sorry to hear your news, if you do have to move, Scotland is lovely (not that I am biased). I hope you do well at the fayres, they are a good way of making extra pennies.
Not really cleared any stash since I was last here as I have been ludicrously busy with life and have not had much time to craft, however I have started to make a single bed sized blanket for my DD so it should chew through a huge volume of yarn (eventually).
Just off to read back and see what I have missed.......Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hi All,
I've been following this thread for a while and not yet even set myself a stash busting target. I mainly to crochet and also have lots of fabric and some card making bits to use up. Will set myself a lowish target of 50 to see me through to the end of next year.Made 2 card star decorations this week for a Xmas get together with neighbours, so I'm counting those. Now I'm off to do some more on my cardi.0 -
Well done everyone
I said about the paper bunting, I think....that used up a lot of my Christmas stash. Today I have added a sleeve of Christmassy craft paper to a jar of chocolate and caramel spread and printed, "Naughty or Nice....?", and put it together with a new pastry brush for Hubby's secret Santa (theme: Naughty or Nice). So that's one little one busted0
