OK I've made a tiny bit of progress. My little (10 year old) girl starts her SATS tests this week and she is really nervous so I dug out my melt pot I bought about 4 years ago (which was still in its unopened packaging) and also some UTEE (a bag of 5 different colours which I purchased at a reduced price from my local craft shop about two years ago and never once used!) and made two little "lucky charms" from some chipboard shapes I had. I made her an owl (for wisdom) and a heart (to show her my love) and put them in an organza bag along with a poem saying:-

Well - Today is the day

    You'll be picking your brain

    Looking for knowledge

    You've tried to retain
    Soon you'll be facing
    Those questions you dread
    And hoping right answers
    Match what's in your head

    There’s no reason to think

    Your SATS will be tough

    For a brilliant, clever student,

These exams will be easy stuff

    All you can do though

Is to give it your best

    Just like you always do

    Good luck with those tests!

    Lots of Love from

    Mum & Dad x

I also made her a good luck card. My little boy (who has just turned 7) also has his Year 2 SATs coming up so I made him a set as well and his own card.

As the charms used not only some chipboard shapes but also some UTEE and an organza bag each I am classing each charm as separate item (probably cheating but hey I make my own rules :) and then also counting each card as one item so I can declare a further 6 items made towards my total - yippee - every little counts :)

The main thing is that my kids loved them and hopefully they will bring them luck in their exams :)

Now I'm going to go through my recent large craft shopping channel order and be really good and try and return some bits and pieces :)

    Happy crafting :)

Love your poem, how thoughtful, my son is also taking his Y6 SATs and it never crossed my mind to make hime something - bad mummy :(

I went to the Dentist yesterday - part of a filling had broken. Dentist patched up the filling but now that tooth is aching like mad. Going to take some Paracetamol when I get in bed.
All the makes - lovely - sorry to not mention names but in pain right now.
Mr F is off on a business trip tomorrow and I want to do lots of jobs - hope this tooth ache goes away.
    More cards to show.

Had a good night's sleep but the tooth is still niggling. I have started to get some craft stuff ready for the charity shop - inspired by those brave souls on here who are letting stash leave the house. I have some craft punches still in their packaging - but I have decided - never going to use them so - off they go. It will make some space for me, money for the charity shop and be a source of cheap craft stash for someone. I have in the past sold some stuff from my craft stash on Ebay but postage on a craft punch would be ridiculous.

I am really enjoying this thread and feel that it has been a great lifeline to me since Feb - it's given me something other than my heart to think about.

Keep up the great work everyone :T

Wow! You're all doing some really great stuff!

Ziggy ... I like all of your makes but I absolutely adore that little button tree! If that were on a craft stand I'd be elbowing everyone out of the way in order to get to it first. I love it. Well done you clever crafty fingers thing!

Florenceem, you know I like your cards, but I especially like that snowman angel. I think he's my most favourite card out of all the ones you made.

Emsloves... Aw the brooch is cute. We're obviously working in a theme together because ... - I made a bit of Alice in Wonderland Tag Art for my blog 'teach in' on Wednesday - but wasn't able to re-size the photo's until Thursday evening so have only just managed to put it on my blog.
(Visitors, eh? Don't they know I've got crafting to do! lol)
    :rotfl:

Craftingmad - I love the poem that you made for your daughter, and also love that you've finally got your Melt Pot out after having it all this time! (I adore mine and hate putting it away). What a wonderful mum you are. Such great memory making. She'll remember that and one day tell her own children about it.

I've been a good girl and made a bit of Tag Art, all made from old stuff in my stash. I'm building a tag art thing on my blog - so I combined that with the Money Saving spirit of the thread here and was thrilled to bits when I actually managed to build this tag completely from things I'd had for ages. The youngest thing is the little fob watch you can see in the centre - but even that (I've worked out) was bought about nine months ago.

Thankfully I remembered this time to save the photo before I put the watermark :j on it, so here it is without the smudged out bit where my blog name normally is!

  • Hit my second target by making a necklace and a christmas decoration this morning! And immediately purchased a set of mica powders :( Spending ban obviously hit a blip but i'm carrying on with it, and punishing myself by extending it a little.

Will not make a new target yet - but i will keep sharing my makes if that's ok?

Well, an interesting day (have also been very tired today so not done much) I "sold" one of the frames I made yesterday and had orders for another 4 which meant I had to go buy more of the small frames but means I use a few more scrabble letters and the monies earnt more than pay for the frames (which are lovely and believe it or not are from "Poundland" - amazed) so here are todays 3 makes (but not adding to signature). I have also been working on another word art canvas which when finished I will post a pic and add to my signature, sorry for all the "waffle"

I also have an order to make a picture from the pre-school leader for a little girl when she leaves pre-school so will be planning that next week and hoping to make completely from stash - "love you to the moon and back" (apparently she says this everyday to the pre-school leader and for a very small child has not had the best of starts in her young life so we want to make her remember how special she is and how much she is loved), am honoured to have been asked in all honesty - someone asked me yesterday if I had considered running a craft course - that shocked me too, maybe I will consider it when back to full health as I dont want to put myself under any pressure or stress at the minute - just wanted to share my "happy" news with you all.

    Night all xx
