I wasn't asked for my card when I used my voucher on Saturday.0

Never been asked for my card.
More inconsistency0 -
They do try to insist on seeing the card sometimes. Just refuse - there's nothing on the vouchers to back them up.
Sometimes the staff in John Lewis act as if they're paying for the cake and coffee out of their own pocket! Excellent way to hack off their customers!0 -
I have used them in five different JL's and have never been asked to show my card but sometimes the staff look very sneeringly at me when I produce the voucher0

But they are!
Staff are all 'partners' and share in the profits. Reduce the profits and the staff get less dividend payments....
Alternatively (and more likely), customers who enter the store for the cake and coffee promotion buy JL products, increasing profits and therefore the staff dividends.0 -

I thought that the cafe was a separate entity to the partnership? Early on in this thread, there was someone who posted quite a lot about working in the cafe. I don't know for sure, and I don't know if the people running the cafe also have a partnership scheme or are employees.0 -

They're JL employees.

The "Place to Eat" restaurant staff are Partners. However our local store has recently opened a new " Hotel Chocolat"cafe in place of their own , ( I think that is what it is called). They do not accept the John Lewis coffee and cake vouchers.Doubt the staff there will be Partners. Have to say their sandwiches were delicious though.0
