  • Got 5 vouchers this week Oct-Feb, last time was only 1
  • I signed up for the My John Lewis card 3 weeks ago. I received one voucher for free drink and cake in September. My friend signed up a few days later and got 3 vouchers for free tea and cake and a £5 off a £50 spend! Don't understand it at all!

I have been signed up for a long time, I also received one cake/coffee voucher and £5.00 off £50 spend for my husband's account and mine.

I used up my last voucher yesterday before it expired today and the woman in front of me in the queue paid with a voucher too. I said to the lad on the till 'I bet we're all paying with vouchers today' and he said 'Yes, there's no money in the till'. He held up the bulging bag of redeemed vouchers beside the till and said again 'There's no money'.
We had a chuckle about it but I wouldn't be surprised if there's repercussions.

"No money in the till" but people often pay by card. We all seem to be being encouraged by our card providers to use them for smallish transactions, like a coffee.

You didn't see that big bag of vouchers! I took it that he meant that he hadn't had any paying customers. But this is a particularly tight part of the country!
  • Yah, today's post broght 1 voucher for free drink and cake valid from October to January, and haven't bought anything lately:T

I had a similar experience at the weekend. Handed over the voucher (as did everyone in the queue before me) and the cashier chuckled "we don't take cash or cards anymore, only voucher". Made everyone laugh.

    No new vouchers yet though.

Well at least I know this time it wasn't linked to my spending (though I know they say this will change it appears to not have as yet).

    I had one voucher for a coffee/cake arrive and 1 £5 voucher with a £50 spend.

The last time I had 1 voucher for a coffee/cake (which I didn't get around to using and then lost the voucher) this time I've got pretty much the same but this time I'd been shopping with a family member who over several separate occasions had spent £hundreds in John Lewis, most of which was full price and not in the sale.

If it were linked to spending, I'd expect them to want to get me back into the store at least more than once. However it would appear with only 1 voucher the chance to lure me back in wasn't top of their list. I hope they manage to find their ideal customer with all these vouchers.
