I probably shouldn't but I can answer a few more of the queries I've read. JL is all about honesty and being straight forward after all.
The envelopes that the vouchers come in have VOUCHERS emblazoned on them because of the amount of people who open the envelope, remove their card and then throw the envelope away without checking if there's anything else inside. They're then adamant that they haven't had their vouchers.
At the minute the restaurant tills aren't set up to accept the loyalty cards. The catering staff don't have anything to do with that. When they take your vouchers they're checking to see it's the right month and the specifics of the voucher. As far as I know there aren't any other identifying marks on the vouchers. They can't be linked to the customer who used it.
Also, as far as I'm aware, there is no connection between using your card in store and receiving more vouchers. The scheme simply isn't that refined yet because the uptake has been so overwhelming. I think they expected a couple of hundred a month and it's gone up by 250K in the last month alone.
I think those are the queries I can answer. Always remember that if you can hear the staff talking, they can hear you when you're talking about how to take advantage. We've seen every trick in the book and all it does is make the queue longer'til the end of the line0 -

Perhaps JL partners do not have My JL cards so may not not be able to check but, since my post of last night, I have checked my vouchers against the My JL card. The membership number of the card is shown in the bottom left-hand corner on the reverse of the voucher together with the month of validity (under a QRC which presumably encodes the same information).
So the vouchers can be linked to the person to whom they were sent.
If you can confirm that the vouchers are passed on from the tills and not simply destroyed by the catering staff, then that would show that the vouchers are processed (and hence why an email was generated by the JL system when I first used a voucher).0 -
Wow, you have good eyes. I've handled thousands of the things but have never noticed any numbers on them. All I know is that we collect them in plastic pots by the till. If it's really busy (like this last weekend where the kids have been off, the weather's been unpredictable and it's been the last day of May & the first day of June) a manager will collect them a couple of times a day. They're separated into the various colours and that's the last we see of them. So if the vouchers are processed further it's by some other department we haven't been told about.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.'til the end of the line0 -
I haven't used many of the first 6 I got, in fact I only used mays one out of the 6, but I gave it to the woman, she looked at it, screwed it up and threw it in the bin!Lose 28lb 3/28lb

I know this sounds obvious but was your voucher definitely for the right month?
Staff can use their discretion in some situations but accepting anything other than that month's voucher is Not Allowed and those above come down pretty heavily on it. That's the only reason a partner should throw a voucher away.'til the end of the line0 -
yup it was the right month, ive only used the one, so was careful to use the correct one.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Oh dear that's not good, when did they run out? If they ran out in May I'd call again as perhaps you got a grumpy call handler.0 -
I received this reply on the 9th. but not received the vouchers yet
Thank you for your email regarding your my John Lewis membership.
There was a technical error which has affected the production and dispatch of some replacement welcome packs, card and vouchers. We are aware of the issue, as well as which customers this has affected, and are working hard to fix it. Your replacement set of vouchers will be with you as soon as possible.
I apologise for your wait and thank you for your patience.

Once I used the initial batch of 6, the next batch of 3 came through quite promptly before the start of the next month. So definitely worth contacting them again. I've still to use June's voucher, but looking forward to it!0
