At our JL the vouchers are put in a Perspex box next to the till, never swipe the card

There are people selling these vouchers on eBay. This is one of the reasons it may end up being stopped. Really annoying!

As good as this freebie is, I admit I'm fairly puzzled by the mentality of some of the replies to this thread. Why are people thinking they need to spend more in JL to get a circa £6 freebie that they probably wouldn't otherwise buy? It doesn't make sense when JL are usually at least £6 more expensive on any purchase over £20 than elsewhere!

I don't think I've ever swiped my card at JL, but I got a second lot of vouchers a few weeks ago.

    Welcome 'newbie'.
Some of us do shop around and make a JL purchase when it IS the best deal around. Sometimes good customer care is the tipping point if there is no price difference...

To be fair I bought a sony camera from JL a few weeks ago and then I found it cheaper in Jessops, I emailed their form online and they price matched no problem, I like JL but as you say occasionally they are more expensive but shopping around and getting them to price match helps :)

The second batch of vouchers will only be sent in threes now. I don't know if customers will be receiving a third batch. They are also changing the dates on the vouchers to solve the problem of the system struggling to cope with demand. So many new customers have signed up in the middle of the month that the first voucher is almost unusable by the time they receive it. The new dating system will hopefully stop that from happening.

All staff have been made aware that vouchers are being sold on Ebay, and that forgeries are starting to appear. It means staff now have to be more thorough in checking the vouchers which will slow the queues down :( So if you notice the staff squinting more than usual at your voucher, it's not because they don't trust you, it's because some idiots out there really are determined to spoil it for everybody else just for a bit of cake and a coffee.

The IT system is being upgraded at some point. It's notoriously awful and cannot cope with the demand the scheme has put on it. Uptake is something like 109% over target and the IT system went BOOM. The new system will hopefully be able to handle most of the issues and failures that have been pointed out on this thread. Fingers crossed it does because it is so frustrating having to tell customers that you simply don't know the answer to any of their queries.
