Just enjoyed my fruit tart and latte today, thanks for the tip about getting your cake and then going to another counter for the drink as this saved a bit of a wait for me :). Does anyone know if you can get the scone, cream and little pot of jam on the offer or do you have to pay more for the jam and the cream?
you get the clotted cream and jam free too :)

It depends which store. Apparently you get it free in Cheadle gr Manchester where my mum goes, but when she visited me in Nottingham and got to the till the lady said she had to pay for the jam and the cream. So maybe it depends on who or where. Might be wise just to check first, save embarrassment at the till

Had my free tea and carrot cake this morning. I do look forward to this monthly treat.
Out of the 5 people in the queue infront of me and 1 behind me - everyone was using their hot drink and cake voucher!!

Does make you wonder how long they'll be able to carry this on...

Man in front of me said to the assistant something like, "they have too little jam, too little cream and too much scone". She smiled, which annoyed him as he was pointing out that this was a complaint he wished to have relayed to management. She tried to show him a scone which appeared (to me) to have a fair amount of all three constituent parts. He was still annoyed as he did not want to be shown something when he had "just had one" and wanted his complaint registered. Perhaps he was a "paying customer".

The scones in general are more trouble than they're worth (at my branch anyway). The partner on cake duty gets so much vitriol over them it's unbelievable. I've been left speechless a couple of times after being verbally abused over scones of all things. :( I mean, come on, it's a scone.

They're all hand made in the kitchens by different chefs so they're not as consistent as most of the cakes. That means in any one day, according to customers, they don't look right, they look weird, they can be too big, too small, not enough filling, too much filling, too dry, undercooked, there should be jam and cream, cream and jam, every type of cream in the world....

The catering partners just want their customers to enjoy their meals. I've never seen anything quibbled when a customer has come back with a complaint. If you've started your meal and you're not happy, just take it back or flag down a partner on the floor.

But what is annoying and harder to deal with is when a customer scoffs everything on the plate and THEN comes back to tell you how horrible it was. Well clearly it wasn't that bad if you ate the whole thing? It gives the impression that they're just out to get another one for free. This happens a lot with the scones for some reason.
'til the end of the line

chewynut, Do they always serve the same sliced cakes on the same day? We always go on a wednesday and it's always carrot cake, which I don't like. Thanks.

How rude some people can be Chewynut, don't worry karma will get them and they'll probably go home and burn their tea.
