Free Hot drink and cake every month @ John Lewis

Well. I've been listening to the grape vine since my contract's finishing soon and I've got some interesting news.
The My John Lewis scheme will no longer be promoted. It will be available if you ask but cashiers will stop asking if you have a card. They've been phasing it out for a while at my branch. I gather it's because of reasons I've grumbled about earlier in this thread. I can write an entire post on these reasons but I'm not sure I should.
Basically the scheme wasn't thought through properly from JL's side, and customers have abused the hell out of the scheme and the catering staff. Nobody wins
Thanks for the heads up- I guess I should actually use my remaining voucher! (of the 9 I've had I've only used 2 so far because there is so much of a queue and stressed out customers which end up stressing me out and then I'm only allowed half a cup with the voucher apparently...!) I hope they re-introduce it in some other way, maybe as Waitrose have in some of their stores where if you spend over £10 you get the freebies which seems fair enough even though it means I rarely get a free coffee these days.0 -

Can't say I am surprised that JL have made this decision. As seems to happen more and more, a few people abuse the system so it gets stopped for everyone
I have really appreciated my free tea and cake and I promise I haven't thrown a hissy fit:D
Good luck with whatever you do next chewynut
Ditto!:(
Enjoyed using my (last) July voucher a.m. - my first scone (with cream and jam) - yummmmmmmmmmmmmmy.:)Free thinker.:cool:0 -
please can I ask is there an email address I can use to contact JL?
my daughters only just realised she has not changed the address on her JL card which is why she has not had any mailings“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Thanks for the heads up Chewynut, it was nice while it lasted0

Thank you
I have no idea what I'm going to do next because I was really hoping to be kept on. I know I've moaned about it on here but JL has been a fantastic place to work.
This is only me putting 2 + 2 together, but I wouldn't be surprised if the MJL scheme is relaunched at some point. They're supposed to be getting a new system that will be able to handle the cards better. At the minute there's a system for everything but none of them talk to each other. The MJL scheme did increase footfall and they won't want to lose that.'til the end of the line0 -

Off the main subject but you do not have to buy anything in Waitrose to qualify for a drink - just need the card.
And it is back to £5 qualifying amount from Mon-Friday which can include your "free" coffee and "free paper.0 -
Leicester JL had Victoria sponge when we were there Monday0

All the best for the future chewynut, it's been interesting hearing about things from your perspective. Hopefully you'll continue to post on this thread.
Perhaps we should all email JL and demand chewynut's contract is renewed!0 -

Try that in Oxford Street and you wont get your coffeeThey need you to spend more than £10 and then they'll ask you what coffee/tea you want, you walk over to ask for said coffee and they ask to see your receipt. No receipt = no coffee
