The card machines in my local Aldi weren't working for a while yesterday. Given what I've read in this thread, I was wondering if this could have been considered sufficient an emergency to dial 999?!

It's a different market sector, that like saying Lada are trying to compete with Rolls Royce, they both produce basically the same products (a car) but in different sectors of the market.

Aldi and Lidl are DISCOUNT supermarkets, so are after different sectors of the market that the big 4

Aldi are 8th with 3.6% of market share with Lidl 9th with 3% of market share.

nearest big 4 is Morrisons at 4th with 11.6%, so they have a long way to go if they want to compete, taking CC in all England stores will not make their market share jump.

Rolls Royce did go bankrupt. Rescued and nationalised by that nice Mr Heath.
