  • Hi Steph enjoying catching up on your diary (now subscribed) and the fb page is great, may have to dust off my grandmas sewing machine, would need to finish the patchwork quilt I made for DD last yr for Christmas, it's all together just need to do the patch working now

We'll done on all of the phone calls very brave I hate doing them which isn't good as everything is in my name (OHhas bad credit rating) but tackled sky yesterday next will be BT :-)

Food shopping is our downfall we struggle to do less than £250 a month for me OH and DD (19 months) and have moved recently to all value brands where possible. Make sure if you are comparing prices look on the ticket on the shelf and compare the price per item as some of the apparent deals for branded items can end up costing more!

    Hi Yummymummy,

Get that sewing machine out. I love it.

Yes think I have called everyone that we are late paying etc and to be honest, they were all brilliant. Some more generous than others but all willing to compromise to help you out. Which is all you need really isn't it. Think my credit file is going to be pretty much trashed as a few said that the payment adjustment will show on my file, but frankly, not being able to get credit again seems more of a plus point than a negative at the moment.
If more companies had said No then I wouldn't have got myself in this silly mess.

I went to the Co-op yesterday as I was already meeting someone to get Ds Christmas present there and managed to do a top up shop for £50., Was aiming for £30 but abit unrealistic I think. Everything I got was either discounted, value or in the about to go off section.
I could have driven to L!dl but that was another 10 miles away so would have wasted my fuel. Such a pain living in the sticks.

    xxxx

Just looking in to say high before I rush off to my knit n natter, supposed to be making Christmas themed things today, so goodness knows what I might come back with:rotfl:

I usually only take something very easy to do, there is sometimes a lot more natter than knit and a lot of us lose concentration and then spend all evening correcting the mistakes that we have made:eek:

I hope you are having a good day, good result with the phone calls, time to worry about credit rating when you are all sorted out and debt free. x

    Hi Maddiemay

I am sooo jealous of your knit and natter group :D. I wish I had one of those, although, I understand what you mean about losing concentration and I would also have to take quite a few things with me to have everything to hand to make my things.

Hope you come back with something lovely for your tree etc.

I am racing to get some more crafts made ready for Friday and Saturday where I have two craft fairs to attend.. Yikes

I chickened out of the decorations and continued with my neckwarmer made from a lovely luxury yarn, a couple more rows tonight and I ought to be able to finish it.

We moved here (150 miles from Dorset) two years ago and the K&N is the only thing I have joined so far we are aged from late 30's to 80's, some of the ladies do quilting or other needle crafts too and no-one minds what we bring, there are two really experienced knitters, the owner of the wool shop and a lady who designs as well as makes hand and machine knits, she is amazing, she understands the they are so helpful to everyone.

I hope that you manage to make everything on your list.:D

    Morning Maddiemay

The neckwarmer sounds fab, I have dabbled with knitting before and managed to follow a pattern for a cardigan for my daughter once, but it wasn't very pretty .
Really wanted to knit some of those handwarmers, basically a tube with a fancy button on the back but just haven't found the time.
I am concentrating on the things I know I can produce, in a vain bid to actually make some money out of Christmas rather than be the one spending it :).

Had to buy some animal feed yesterday but just got two sacks to tide them over until hubbys wage packet comes in on Monday.

Am managing to leave the bank account alone, its not going to recover for a month or so, but the less I use it the better.

Got lots of crafts to try to finish today before a craft fair at school Friday afternoon and a village Craft fair on Saturday.

Not going to have tonnes of stuff but hopefully enough to fill a table :o.

Hope you have a nice day ahead. xxx

    Hi Steph
You seem to be doing well at making the money stretch around, each day is a day nearer finding things a bit easier.

Just got back from my second session (ever) with Personal Trainer, he has worked me hard, but all the time making sure that I have not added to problems with my ankles and knee. immediately came home and ate a cheese omelette and 3 Orio's:rotfl:, to be fair I had only had a small bowl of oat bran porridge before I went:) Off the find some nice smellies from my toiletries stash for a long shower. Good luck for the school craft fair. x

  • Steph, you're doing really well and seem to be in the right mindset.
I agree with what you have said, don't debt-bust too much or set unrealistic goals as you're more likely to fall off the wagon.
The best advice i can give is stick to the snowball calculator like glue and you will start to see those figures falling.
Did you post up the Apr's? (will check in a second, i must admit i read all of page 1 then skipped to pg 4 :o)

  • Thanks for your replies, still leaving the bank account alone. Looking forward to hubby being paid on Monday. Will get to pay a few more bills :).

Got a school Christmas fayre to go to today. Not overly hopeful on a lot of sales as don't think the parents often take a lot of money to these things and I don't have a lot of REALLY cheap things.

It will be good practice though for all the fairs I plan to do next year.

Just did a quick count up of all the ordered I have in for my little business and its £241 :T:T. I will also be working for a friend for a week from the 7th December and have worked out that will bring in around £175.

That's £415 coming in, before I make any sales at the 3 Christmas fairs I have coming up.

Its amazing how abit of ingenuity can really get the money coming in. :D

Feeling abit better about myself this week. xxx

    Morning Steph
What a lovely positive post, so pleased that you are feeling better about yourself and I hope that the sun shines there for you today too, blue skies here so we are going to try and take the dog a little walk in the forest, my walking distance is a bit limited, but I want to see what is left of the autumn colours.

On a craft note, this morning I completely un did the neck warmer, it was too big and bulky (I think the man in the shop sold me the wrong yarn for the pattern and being a brand I had not used before, I had not understood what the difference is in all the different "names" of yarn. Never mind - we have to mistakes in order to learn they say:rotfl:

PS sun has got his hat on, better hurry, OH waiting;) xx

What a nuisance, having to un-do your neck warmer. Although I guess there is no point carrying on if it isn't right.

I am currently packing my box for my stall, abit nervous about displaying things I have made. It is like I am putting myself out there for people to comment on and its abit nerve wracking.

Oh well, keep going. Hope you had a lovely autumn walk xxxx
