Hi, I just wanted to say well done with contacting Virgin, they are my biggest debt too and I had to speak to them this week, I have 2 debts with MBNA, one is Virgin and one Amazon mastercard, I informed them of my situation and was also in 3 months arrears with one of the cards, they were really good to me and very understanding. I haven't come up with any solution with them yet, they need more info off me, but it is good to know they want to help. I am learning lately that not avoiding situations I am scared of is the way forward. Action is what is needed to get out of our situation.
Keep up the good work and I might de-lurk and keep a check on your thread for inspiration if that's OK, I have a similar amount of overall debt.0 -

Morning Painted Lady,
Its always nice to find people in a similar situation. Why don't you start a Debt Diary?. Its really therapeutic, helps me get things off my chest and chat to people about things I probably wouldn't say to friends or family.
Good luck with V1rgin, I have others to contact and I only hope they are half as helpful as they were. Fingers Crossed.
Have a nice cheap weekend xxx0 -
Morning Steph,
I didn't realise you'd started a new diaryfound you though! Well done on making good headway already with getting interest frozen
I think this LBM might be the ONE! :T I've lost count of the lbm's I had before it finally went to full on brightness and stayed there!
You can order t3sco clothes on line for the kids for school (or which ever SM is near to you that delivers?) I would never buy in n3xt for school clothes even pre-LBM, my kids are SO rough on their clothes they get destroyed in a term (2 terms at best!) Get their feet measured and then buy cl@rks on fleabay. I got 2 nearly new pairs this year for £12 for my two younger ones.
Good luck i'm here to cheer you on as well :T:T:jMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

Hi DFW321,
It think you might be right about this LBM being my final one, I seriously cannot be in this kind of mess again.
I am in that horrible situation where it's really hard to budget and get on track because Direct Debits are bouncing let right and centre and there's more going out than coming in and then the bank take a ridiculous amount out of the account for charges and interest which just makes you EVEN worse off.
We do generally earn £800 more per month than we spend so hopefully by the end of January we should be back on an even keel and be able to start paying debts on time and NOT spending.
Just typical that I time my debt disaster always for November every year, Just before the most expensive time of year. Grrrrr.
Would be great to chat to you again. Will go off and try and find your diary xxxx0 -
Afternoon Diary,
I have been busy this afternoon. Cooking up a big pan of pumpkin soup and getting the breadmaker going with some wholemeal dough.
I am hoping the munchkins will like the soup (fingers Crossed), then it will be a fab thing I can freeze. I have three more pumpkins outside to be processed. Managed to get them for free after the halloween:D.
Will be some very free meals if I can encourage the whole family to enjoy it.
Have to go through my store cupboard later today and work out the most budget shop I possibly can for this week as we haven't really got any money for food.
Might be pumpkin soup all week :T0 -
I had tonnes of carrots left the other week and I thought I was being super clever making tonnes of carrot soup! None of the kids liked it
monsters lol! I hope you get a better reception to your HM delights
How about pumpkin pie? I always hear about this but have never eaten it myself! xx

Sounds like we are in a similar situation. Have you started a Debt Diary? If you have let me know which one it is and I will subscribe.
It was bad timing of us to have childrens birthday so close to Christmas. Will have to be a word of wisdom I pass onto my daughter. Time your pregnancies!! hehe
Hi!Looks like you've made a lot of progress the last few days. Well done!!
I haven't started one yet, I probably will at some point. When I do I'll let you know.
Lol, I a lot of my families birthdays are in Jan. Ahhh, defo need to time them better lmao!

Hi Steph, I am not sure yet about a diary of my own, I can see how it would work to keep motivated, but I am not sure about revealing too much about me online. My partner (now) knows about my debt but I would be scared of otherwise being identified online, I like to keep myself anonymous after a bad experience a few years ago, it would be along the lines of "Today I paid this and tomorrow I do that" and might be quite boring, what do you think?
Hope you are having a cheap weekend so far, my OH took us out yesterday for dinner, he paid every penny of it, so I not spent anything yet, although think it will be my job to get the milk later.
Think we will have a quiet sunday, watching films, go for a little walk, doing homework, housework, bath & early night.0 -
Hi all,
I understand the worry of someone twigging who you are. I do worry abit also. I do try to be suitably vague about family details and I expect my diary gets abit boring as all I do is vent and moan about bills, but I have found in the past that feeling like I HAVE to come back and update my diary, then leads to me checking out other diaries and generally keeping me motiviated.
As you can probably tell, I am excellent at burying my head in the sand, so if I don't come on here and also check my bank account against my spreadsheet EVERY DAY, I can quite easily start spending and just ignore the fact that my financial situation is imploding .
This weekend has been NSD's, but in the space of 24 hours, I have been invited for a Christmas shopping trip to one of our nearest cities with a group of friends and also for a meal out for an aqaintances birthday. Have'nt done it yet but will say no to both of those.
Two weeks ago I would have emptied out the last pennies from my account to attend these events, to hell with direct debtis coming up. NO MORE!!.
I have a meal out at Prezzo's for my best friends birthday this Tuesday. I have ordered Prezzo vouchers from my T#sco clubcard. Can't really afford the petrol to drive there but she is my bestie so will have to manage somehow.
Got to spend the whole week coming up making as many crafts as possible so that I can sell them at a coule of local craft fayres next weekend. Will hopefully make a few pennies.
Thats about all from me this weekend. Might also pick some Sloes this week to make into wine. Might need a tipple to drown my sorrows
Enjoy your sunday night MSE'rs xxx0 -
