Ps4 and Xbox one touts

I think I can actually explain the problem I have with touts in a logical way.
Here goes, lets shrink the sample to 10 consoles and 12 people wanting them.
With no touts, the first 10 to preorder/get to the shop get the consoles, Sounds Fair.
Ok now lets add a tout to the game.
5 customers get them and a tout buys the other 5, so now we have 5 happy customers and 7 people to bid against each other for 5 consoles. So off they go the poorest 2 lose out.
Now here is my problem you have 7 people bidding when the reality is the shortage was only 2, so yes you can argue its supply and demand but the touts are actually resticting the supply which then makes demand higher than it ever would have been naturally. Once they have caused this inflatation to the market they then exploit the shortage they have infact caused.
All perfectly true but the tout has no advantage when making their inital purchase. In the senario first come first served means the tout could have been one of two people going without.0 -

This isn't always strictly true, I know with concerts I have tried at the exact time they go on sale and still not got them.
Still proud of the day we beat the touts to peter kay tickets as it is we ended up with too many, as it is after asking a few friends we soon found less lucky people and passed them on at cost, was 8 less victims for the touts.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Where would this advantage come from unless their "company men" designed to artificially inflate the price. I dont really like conspiracy theories me self.0 -
To say that touts are the reason demand exceeds supply is slightly niaive.
Take a gig as an example. If a venue has capacity for 1000 attendees, and the gig is The Rolling Stones....Then whether a tout buys the tickets or Joe Public, demand will always exceed supply.
My point is... I dont like touts, but I accept them. If I have an opportunity to buy extra tickets and sell them on, I will...I cant beat the touts, so I'll join them. (I mostly dont bother though as ebay has stopped ticket sales and have themselves, started profiteering from touting by starting stubhub)
If I'm silly enough to not buy something when it goes on sale, and its a product that is in limited supply....I can only blame myself.
I imagine the people here who are complaining the most, are people who dont take the necessary action to ensure they get what they want, when they can.
At the end of the day, its perfectly legal practice and although its 'a bit mean' its nothing that you or I couldnt do...So stop complaining and buy your stuff sooner!! (In fact, buy two, if you cant sell it, just return it for a refund)
I really want my PS4 and Im looking forward to collecting on Thursday night. However...If I can sell it on eBay for £200 more than I paid...I'll do that and buy another after xmas!!0 -
Interestingly I don't actually want a PS4 and Xbox One but the touts still bother me.
Also I could quite easily got a pre orders in for both, but being a gamer and having morals I can't take part in such a crooked game.
Likewise it doesn't take somebody to be affected by something to see its wrong.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I was going to sell some stuff on ebay earlier to pay some bills and noticed pre order codes which only cost £20 to the purchaser were going for £150 to £180 !!!!! Its not even a console just a slot to buy one.0

Percy, people know what the price is so 'touts' are not cons or scams. Cons and scams require the buyer/victim to not know something negative about the thing they are buying or where they are not knowingly being ripped off.
And most 'touts' are just people who have a hobby and just buy an extra of something that is a part of their hobby and sell on to make a little extra cash. It's not like those who stand outside stadiums selling tickets to concerts etc. There's going to be ps4's made for quite a while yet.
Also, would you consider someone who buys things from charity shops and sells them on at their proper value a 'tout'?
In fact, 'tout' isn't even the right word!
tout Verb /tout/
touted past tense; touts 3rd person singular present; touted past participle; touting present participle
Attempt to sell (something), typically by pestering people in an aggressive or bold manner
Jim was touting his wares
Attempt to persuade people of the merits of (someone or something)
the headquarters facility was touted as the best in the country
Scalp (a ticket)
Offer racing tips for a share of any resulting winnings
Spy out the movements and condition of (a racehorse in training) in order to gain information to be used when betting
tout Noun /tout/
touts plural
A person soliciting custom or business, typically in an aggressive or bold manner
A person who buys tickets for an event to resell them at a profit; a scalper
A person who offers racing tips for a share of any resulting winnings
An informer
None of these console sellers are selling aggressively, nor are they selling tickets or racing tips. So not sure why you're calling them 'touts'.
By the by, 'having morals' is subjective. I can imagine in many ways how you can be running an immoral or unethical business. I can imagine you lack morality for many things. So it's not wise to claim the moral high ground.0 -
I think the same that the Xbox One will be able to be had for less than the retail price soon after people are bored of it and the novelty factor wears off. There's a massive hooha when they are first released, scare mongering like you won't get one until after Christmas.. nonsense. The bargains hunters bide their time, stay cool and don't make any rash decisions.
Good advice stay cool, especially after reports that xbox ones are overheating and smoking!!!!!!!!!!
I am getting a PS4 tomorrow. Prob go for killzone shadowfall first of all.0 -
I cant decide which game to get tomorrow with my ps40
