  • Now you've lost me. I don't particularly see anything wrong with buying an extra to sell for a bit of extra cash. Besides if sold on ebay the fees will take a chunk for a start. When idiots are willing to pay double the RRP for something there will be others who will supply that demand.

As the xbox one is out today earlier than the ps4 I do not think that demand will outstrip supply for the ps4 in the uk.

In the usa it was the ps4 out first that was what caused the buying frenzy and why they were selling ps4s for over $1000

Now you can buy second hand ps4 for less than retail

I think the same that the Xbox One will be able to be had for less than the retail price soon after people are bored of it and the novelty factor wears off. There's a massive hooha when they are first released, scare mongering like you won't get one until after Christmas.. nonsense. The bargains hunters bide their time, stay cool and don't make any rash decisions.

Just put the boot on the other foot, every time you want a new product or concert ticket you find they have all been sold to people who don't actually want them but just want to con you, how would you feel?

There is no way that the Xbox One will reduce in price any time soon. The best you will see is new bundle deals like the one on the Microsoft Store - which are only at best equivalent to the free game in the Day One Edition.

The price rises more on eBay the nearer it gets to Christmas too. This is always true of top Christmas toys that are in short supply. You might manage to find what you are looking for in the shops, but it will probably take some effort, and if you don't it will cost you more on eBay the longer you leave it...

Xbox One Day One edition consoles are already selling for over £600 on eBay!

And you run two of your own businesses?
    Simple supply and demand.

Luckily for me neither of my businesses involve buying up items in short supply and ripping people off.

I think whichever way you look at it the profiteers who buy products they don't want just to sell at an inflated price are just immoral con-artists.

I remember seeing in the paper when the Wii was in short supply somebody selling one he bought from Argos he was only interested in "reasonable offers" over £300.

I'm smart enough to know we can't all have what we want and that for most things I can wait till the price drops.

So no, still don't see the problem. It's not a con if people know they are paying double or triple the price. Plus most suppliers have a limit of 1 or 2 per person if supplies are limited.

Trust me I understand business, I also know the difference between ethical and immoral business.

In short anybody could buy the products I sell, I then work hard to modify said products and then sell at a profit, in short my business is product + work = final product = profit.

Touts, is product = same product = profit, so where is the work? hence my comment I would rather work for my money.

I will agree to an extent, I would never pay a penny over RRP to the touts, with that I can wait for things.

But here is the thing, I don't have a young child, I haven't told them I will get them a PS4 for christmas, I am not deperate.... many are.

The good news is my business can't fail to make a profit, touts can make a loss quite easily and I hope they all do. From there if they do make a profit I hope the tax man catches up with them if they haven't declared there 'business'.
