Dont worry - the games are region free on the PS4.

The warranty isn't. It isn't something I would risk.

A personal choice which id agree with but not a business princple. Supply and demand affects house prices with not "value" being added. Its the consumer that drives these prices. Who whishes to pay three times the odds but cant be bothered to preorder I dont know but these people mean the prices are what they are. Market value. Here endth the lesson, consultancy is just one of my many talents.

Look at this way, say a mortgage broker, they help people select the right mortgage for them, hence a service.

Are the touts doing anything to help people get Xbox One or PS4 consoles?

That doesnt make sense. The value of the property doesnt increase because of a mortgauge broker. Supply and demand drives it.( alterations may assisst prices, redcorating, extensions etc.)

There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    Thought we where discussing middlemen/touts.

I mortgage broker doesn't increase house prices, they take your many and help you select a product using their skills/knowledge.

What does a tout do for you?

The house price is driven by the demand of the consumer exactly the same as the console. Its the consumers that are prepared to pay through the nose that drive the prices up. I mean who pays that much for an already expensive console? But they do and that is why the touts exist. Also sometimes they take a punt and get it wrong as above with the non sales.

So the prices at retailers go up because people are willing to pay more? are you sure?

Certain. Once development costs in this case are covered. The first xbox price point was much lower, with an increase with the release of the 360 and now a further increase. And the demand for 360's probbaly means you can get them pretty cheap now. I paid 60quid for mine quite a while ago, i wouldnt expect to pay that much now.

I think I can actually explain the problem I have with touts in a logical way.

Here goes, lets shrink the sample to 10 consoles and 12 people wanting them.

With no touts, the first 10 to preorder/get to the shop get the consoles, Sounds Fair.

Ok now lets add a tout to the game.

5 customers get them and a tout buys the other 5, so now we have 5 happy customers and 7 people to bid against each other for 5 consoles. So off they go the poorest 2 lose out.

Now here is my problem you have 7 people bidding when the reality is the shortage was only 2, so yes you can argue its supply and demand but the touts are actually resticting the supply which then makes demand higher than it ever would have been naturally. Once they have caused this inflatation to the market they then exploit the shortage they have infact caused.
