Im a cantankerous git and would leave my bins a cars where i wanted as long as legal. Safe in the knowledge its making some moaning old farts blood boil.0

must add aswell the cars, they aren't hideous old wrecks etc. there is a ford c-max on the drive (2008), a Peugeot 407sw on the front paved area which the landlady specifically had cut back for us so we oculd park there (2006, rapidly approaching a quarter of a million miles but in a1 perfect cosmetic condition) and on the road the company astra estate (2013), although this can vary as I am on my 4th company car in 2 years but they are always brand new and usually astras/insignias. if I had a 10year old golf, a 20 year old fiesta and a transit I may see their point more0
-
and which one of these cars would they like you to move, and why? There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.0

they want the astra to be removed. its parked on the road as, being blunt, if anyone crashes it I couldn't care less, on our contract we have to have an identical or better replacement car within 4 hours any time of day or night 365 days a year. if one of my own cars got damaged id bear the cost, so the company car gets the road. they don't want a car on the road as they say it is dangerous. its a quiet residential area, very little traffic ever. haven't seen a car go past for over an hour, harldy anyone on the street works so there isn't the 9-5 rushes etc0
-
Ok so they want your bins out of sight as they don't want to see them.
You to not have a sky dish that the next door neighbour (and possibly others) can see.
You to only have your cars (obviously seen as an evil necessity) on your drive, yes they can still be seen (or have they asked you to throw camo netting over them?) but having one parked legally on the road offends them.
I hope for your sake you don't hang clothes on the line, your pants will be next for the 'it offends my eyes' police! There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.0 -
Also if it was actually dangerous to park there the council would have enforced parking restrictions, I'm assuming, in your opinion as an experienced driver, you feel this is not a dangerous place to park? And does not cause an obstruction?
(for example although I can legally park outside my own house I don't because the amount of tractors that use the road regularly everyday means I would be very unpopular and my old but in otherwise mint condition Rover might get squished lol.)There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.0 -
its on a gentle right hand bend, no way anyone would ever go round it above 20mph. past our house to the end of the cul de sac there are maybe 20 houses, of which iw ould sya half have 1 car half have 0 cars so traffic is minimal. no chance of tractors etc. the car is parked on the left hand lane and the view round the bend is not obstructed from either direction. its not ideal granted, but 100s of times safer than most city centre parking I see. I drive well over 50000 miles a year so feel pretty confident in my judgement. I am also very risk averse, I don't do risk in any aspect of my life so really am confident in this being ok0

ok visually they are more jo brand than holly Willoughby, but how does that affect you? I mean actually affect you, not something made up0

I've read through this thread, but the car thing really takes the biscuit
I have a thing about nosy neighbours who should be minding their own business.... And from living in a terrace house with only street parking for many years , idiots who think the road in front of their house belongs to them (eg. Put cones out to keep 'their' space) a a particular peeve.
OP, none of these transgressions amount to a hill of beans. Stay polite, stay neighbourly, but for heaven's sake please keep doing the things you are doing!0 -
Sometimes, developers have rules regarding the type of vehicle that you cannot park in the road/on your own property, along with other insane rules about not external aerials or hanging washing out.
These rules are usually in place until the last house is sold & then the developers will no longer give a hoot.
Where I live we have rules banning external aerials, hanging-out washing and the parking of commercial vehicles.
As I sit here, there are 5 rotary washing lines out, every house has an external aerial (erected by the management company) & there are at least 5 large vans (the manco classes them as 'cars' to get round the lease).
OP, I really feel for you. In your shoes (and seeing that you have a wish to buy the property in the future), I would go down the 'contact LA/LL regarding harassment' & carry on as you are. Park your car outside your own house & put your bins where you want them.Never Knowingly Understood.
