They offered me a £5 discount off the BB alone price to keep the phone in.

So I've still got the phone line and save a fiver a month!

i currently have BB, XL tv and phone line with free weekend calls i pay £45 a month for all 3 but i only want BB now as im on a rolling contract with them im planning on ringing tomorrow to see if i can get a deal on bb only as i think £25a month is quite steep..................any advice??

Just rang up and VM have given me a £24 credit to offset the £3 price rise for the remainder of my contract. I'm happy with that so decided to stay.

I had a deal in August 2013 via Retentions. Called Retentions today regarding the price rise (£2 for me) and received a £2 discount to offset it. A hassle but I suppose I got the result I wanted.

Got a £71 bill credit to convince me to stay (made up of various components). Long story short.......I'm paying £16.67 per month (averaged) for the next 12 months for 60mg broadband only, with free superhub 2 and free installation.

if you were with them already, why did you need free installation? looks like a nice price to have 60mg bb only.

Well I am happy to pay £51 each month.

Virginmedia robbed me silly with your speed is up to 60mb lark when I am paying for 60mb and getting 30mb with a 3mb upload that's cut in half for a few photo uploads.
Love my BT infinity 73mb download and 19mb upload, yes virgin are going to go faster but after a 10gb download you will be getting 40mb hahahaha work that out and still only 3mb upload that is also traffic managed

Sorry, I gave the abridged version. I joined in Nov as a bb only customer and got free hub 2 with free installation, a £5 per month discount and an extra £5 off for the first 3 months. I then used my right to cancel due to the price increase. So I have a new 12 months contract for 60 mg bb only but it now includes £5 a month off ' loyalty' discount, an extra £5 per month off for the first 6 months and a £71 bill credit consisting of 2 x £25 (representing 2 months bills free), 3 x £5 opening 3 months new contract bonus and £6 from thin air (or more likely some kind of pro rata calculation). Anyway, it's worked out nicely and I'm very pleased.

A general tip I would give to people when negotiating with Virgin is to try and get bill credits thrown in as part of the deal. They are applied straight away and can be checked. Much easier than having to phone up every month asking why your promised monthly discount has vanished
