Why don't we do the same thing for regular savings accounts? We could also include a section on best feeder accounts.

Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available List!

I would be happy to do it. (Of course if a more experienced poster wishes to then I would let them do it.)

What do you think? Do you think this would be worthwhile or a waste of time? Would the moderators be happy to keep it as a sticky? I can see there is a sticky article above but it does not really cover this.

excellent idea :T :j atm a post goes up several times a week asking what the best regular savers are and basically the same answers get posted, as most providers offer regular savers, whilst new ones may come on the market they dont tend to do so on a daily basis.

in a ideal world would be posters on the subject would look back at previous posts on the forum to see if they can see same question having been already asked very recently, often threads containing same info as prev threads on same subject get merged to keep the forum nice and tidy, due to lack of moderators this doesnt seem to occur with reg savers threads.

so a sticky regularly updated with both 1 year and ongoing regular savers perhaps with links to institutions website so people can look for "gems" and "special conditions" with just one click would be good imo

heres another alternative to money facts appears to give same info

    http://www.moneynet.co.uk/banking-saving/regular-savings-account/regular-savings-account-results.php?orderby=interest_rate%20desc&page=1&result_per_page=&sw_amount=100&sw_institution=

as a suggestion perhaps include all reg savers that only last 12 months or less and include ongoing regular savers that are at least 0.50% above the best easy access internet account ( currently around 6%) so ongoing reg savers that are say 6.50% and above atm otherwise people might have a problem with the list being too long ;)

Any sticky should also include an explanation about the fact that a 12% regular saver does not mean you get 12% per annum, as most new-ish savers don't twig this fact.

But you do get 12% AER on your savings, for 12 months from the first opening deposit, it's just that they aren't all there for a full 12 months due to the drip feed effect.

Or am I misunderstanding it and the rate actually tapers off?

Thanks for the encouragement. I have this afternoon off so I will quickly write something suitable right now and post it here for you to look at, for a potential sticky if the moderators agree.

Ohh what a shame, cause you were so helpful this time. See ya! :p

Getting back to the more interesting stuff -
Really good idea Special Saver 2 - you might want to get a Mad Maverick involved for it to become a sticky. Not sure who is the savings guru - but dunstoh (think thats right) might know (or appear! normally have to mention investment )

Also, Martin (or minion) already do a few articles and might pick this idea up and run with it. However they do find it difficult to keep these uptodate - so a sticky might be good.

At least something good has come from this:T

Debbie - I know, I was writing in a hurry and probably didn't express myself very well - but you obviously know what I mean. Time and again people expect that if they put in £3000 over the year, they will get £360 interest. I personally think that banks and building societies should make it clearer in their advertising material what is entailed, instead of 12% in ABSOLUTELY HUGE print and the consequences in tiny tiny print, if at all.

Looking at Martin's article on the main part of the website, there is a section where he kind of covers that. In my post, I have included a link to his article as well as to Kazza's great ISA sticky.

i may be incorrect, my belief is that chorley ( blackburn rovers Reg saver ) is no longer avaliable to new account openings)

another ongoing reg saver is bath BS albeit with county restrictions paying 6.75% gross
