    Hi all.

Once again, I shall Fly as best I can; I think a lot of this week will be spent removing black dog hair from the carpets!:D

November Challenge - the shredding of all the carp from the loft is now complete, and the utilities and bank files have all been weeded and archived. There just remains our personal files (Mr LW can do his own:eek:) and the techie side of it to do, so I'll see how I get on with that; Bonnie's quite time consuming (three walks a day, and it takes me an age to get into my outdoor gear, plus she needs brushing daily) but she's worth it, so I don't mind a bit.:o

Regarding our Remembrance thoughts; my mother's first fiance was MIA, and eventually thought to have been killed during the Suez Crisis. My mother married my father very soon after receiving this news, and then shortly afterwards "J" (the fiance) turned up, safe if not entirely sound. If only she'd taken a bit more time to get her head together, because her marriage was never happy, she ended up married to a bully and a martinet.:( Also, again info from my aunt (and I gather she wasn't ever meant to tell me) my own physical characteristics are somewhat similar to "J"'s, and in fact nothing like my father's.

More recent history - the chap I was engaged to when I was 18 had the truly terrible experience of seeing his best mate killed, right beside him, in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

May all the brave men and women who have laid down their lives for their country - no matter which country - rest in peace.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • that is so sad LW, i know the past can never be altered but how different things could have been

LW awww, that's so sad isn't it. We take everything so much for granted and it's very easy to forget what people went through for us. How long have you got Bonnie for?

Mrs-Moneypenny sort of been with you for HHC on and off - washed up all dishes, wiped down tiles, cleaned electrics in lounge, did skirting board and units and done stairway. Couldn't get to all the skirting boards (huge furniture in the way) so cleaned damp base and piano instead.

All list now done :T. Feels good and looks much fresher in here. Now going to relax ready for DD to get home from school and then out at 4.15 to get DS from football club.

LW it was never spoken about but my late gran (who was the eldest of her siblings) was half american. Seems my Gt gran had a bit of a fling with a GI shortly before marrying my Gt granddad and was pregnant when they married . Apparently Gt granddad knew and my gran sadly carried the shame of this to her grave :(

Have spent several hours rubbing bri11o pads along all the chrome spokes of the oven shelves and spreading evil chemical muck on the oven bottom again. I'm getting there with it, but this is all still stuff from cooking during film-making - and that's still in post-production so I'm not the only person still working on it.

LW and Bossy, it has helped me enormously hearing other people's family history about individuals who were affected by the wars, so thank you for sharing yours. I'm very unsure why this particular Remembrance Day has affected me so much, but the news this evening about 500 people turning up to the 99 year old Dambuster Ground Crewman's funeral today at 11.00 has brought today to a fitting close for me. I think I'll go and visit Kenneth Robinson's grave at some point - my father found it in the 1980s or 1990s and I'd like to put some flowers on it as the anniversary of his death comes round. I'd never thought about doing so before.
    Better is good enough.
