Try not to worry yourself too much about your mum, although I know that's easier said than done. I'm glad she's got another scan soon- the sooner that they do more investigation, the sooner you'll know one way or another.

I'll keep your mum in my prayers.

Glad you managed a low cost shopping week :) mine was £62 in sainsburys today which isn't too bad, and about £16 of that was stuff for the little fella like a new face cloth, new cup, some cutlery, some more bath stuff that's good for his eczema.

I also put £3 in my £ tin today and husband put in a £2 coin :) making progress slowly but surely.

    How has everyone's weekend been?

Hi everyone :) Sorry I have been AWOL. Been a stressful time really.

Mum is having yet another CT scan today. I don't suppose we'll know anything else until the operation, which should be pretty soon. She isn't getting any better, and spent 3 days in bed because she was in so much pain. For a woman who has only taken about 5 days sick leave from work in the last 13 years, that speaks volumes.

Nothing to report on the savings front really. I am hoping to go up to Mums in a few weeks, so I doubt i'll hit my £2K target this month. To be honest, I don't really mind too much-seeing Mum is more important. She only has my younger sister up there to look after her (they live together) and I thought it'd be nice to visit.
Its about 400 miles away, so going to have to spend a bit of money on petrol.

It's no wonder you're stressed. I think at the moment, though, the savings is the least of your worries. Seeing your mum is more important so take the time to so that if you can. The savings will keep for another month.

Your poor mum- is there nothing they can give her for the pain?

    Thanks Jo,
She is already on anti-nausea medication and a high dosage of pain killers. They cant increase the dose any higher.

She is back in bed again today and is feeling rough.

I have an unexpected day off work tomorrow, as my client has had to go away for a few days. However, I will still get paid for those hours. Not 100% sure what I will get up to..i might do a budgeting/food shop/meal plan/kitchen cupboard and freezer audit kind of day :D

For me, spending is definitely linked to emotions. The more stressed I get, the more I want to spend some money. So it really is a daily battle at the moment and its not been that way for a while.
That said, I think I am going to treat myself to some wine this evening.

So sorry your mum is not so well.
I remember when I had my troubles, my family went through h3ll. I think it can be a lot worse for the family looking on than actually being the one who is ill!!

    Thinking of you WTBSE.

    Hello everybody :)

I have been so rubbish at updating, sorry.

I will have to amend my savings total. I spent a little bit of money trying to cheer myself up (oops). Needless to say, it didn't work.

Definitely wont be hitting the target, but no worries, I will just move the target date to the end of June instead :D

The kids and I need haircuts, so those are all booked.

I am desperately trying not to spend anything other than what I need to.

WantToBeSE, the end of June is not all that far away anyway :) True dat about spending money, though keeping yourself on the leash all the time is hard too. Something has to give sometimes (I reckon). Then onwards and upwards. :)

    Thanks Cathy :)

So, the boys has their haircuts today, £12.80 for both of them, so that was cheap! The barber was really lovely too and had a chat with my son about hair products etc.

I have not yet been paid today, but I will hopefully put £60 into my savings account. Need to build those savings up again!

Cant remember if I said- I am joining a gym. Its costs £48 p/m for me and gives me unlimited use of the gym, free induction with 1 hr PT session, pool and classes. Its only £10 cheaper than my local council run one, which has a freezing pool and dire gym equipment!
Its only a 5 min drive from me too, whereas the council run one is a 20min drive.

As long as I use the facilities 8 times a month (twice a week), then it'll be worth it.
Its also £60 per year for the kids each, and with that they can have unlimited use of the pool, and also my 14 yr old can use the gym for only £2.

I know its spending, but its investing money in myself and my health.
I want to lose weight, that's obvious, but I also want nice defined muscle.

No more news on Mum..i didn't call her yesterday as we were busy, but am calling her tonight.
