That is good news about your Mum.
Has to be said if we were anywhere near a beach we would be there. Instead I am cleaning.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Pleased to hear that your mum has a date for her op and that the prognosis seems good. The weather in Edinburgh is the same as yesterday - dry but overcast. I am jealous of all you people enjoying warm weather. My husband has been decorating so opened all the windows to let out the fumes. That had me reaching for a fleece! Still, more money-saving than turning on the heating when the windows are open.0

Thanks both, I am hugely relieved that its not anything more sinister
Today I wandered into town and the ATM was working, so I withdrew as much as I needed to pay for my gas, elec and therapy for the month. All I need to do now is take out £120 for petrol for the month and put it into my envelope for petrol.
I have about £200 left for food a month now, so about £50 a week. Not too hard, considering my kitchen cupboards are full to bursting
Its still such a lovely warm day here in Cornwall
I am going to book our next trip to Longleat soon, as I got enough clubcard vouchers to pay for 2 of the tickets this timeSo it'll cost about £20 for tickets

Hi there! I'm a longtime MSE lurker and a sometimes poster, I've never joined in with a goal before now though, but I'd like to chip in on this one if that's ok! I'm a bit sporadic in my replies so bear with me!
I'm 29 and live with my other half, we've been together 18m and renting for 15m, and we keep saying how we must start saving for a deposit on a house of our own! OH has just got a great new job with more pennies, and we hope to save about £300 a month between us. With a £15k goal this is no easy task but my lightbulb moment was a bit daft and what spurred me on to get the ball rolling with £75 saved this month was when OH said we can't get married til we have a house :O I know, I know, we've only been together 18m but he really is my soulmate and we both want to get married eventually, I just thought it would be in 2-3yrs, but now it's more like 5-6, the quicker I/we save, the quicker we'll get there, so that's my incentive!
I'm going to put some clothes on ebay tonight, I struggle with my weight and have a few brand new dresses (just primark, nothing special) which I bought to slim into (ha!), but they're put to better use being sold for a couple of quid! We've also agreed to cut out takeaways (only one a month usually anyway!), and friends of ours who own a pub may well be taking us on for a shift or two soon, extra pennies!
So that's me, I've subscribed to this thread so it'll be nice to see others in a similar situation and get a little encouragement, now I need to work out how to do one of those fandangled footer things you all have with your targets!!0 -
Hi shiney, I've got a cheek to welcome you to this thread since ive been awol for a couple of weeks! Hope you find this place motivational! You'll reach your goal in no time at all!
WTBSE- that's amazing about your mum! I hope her op goes well
I've had a rubbish few weeks with spending/saving. Need a rocket up my bum and need to work out exactly what we have still in savings so that I can start again and get back on the wagon!
I blame the sun-it's making me want to spend! Haha

No point dwelling though, I need to move forwards. Am shattered tonight, will update more tomorrow.
Great to see you again Joand welcome Shiney

Hiya WTBSE - that's great news about your Mum xxx
Were the bits things you needed? I'm starting to spend a little bit on clothes now, but that's because it's been so long since I last bought clothes that it's all falling apart or fading, including my work clothesApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Thanks JoJoC and WTBSE! Since my post I've put a few bits on ebay, I may literally make about £10 but it's something, and I changed our Santander account to one of those 1,2,3 jobs, we'll make about £3 a month in cashback, haha! Trying to keep remembering Mr. T*scos motto!
I did the big shopping spree a couple of weeks ago...still feeling guilty but hoping it'll see me through the summer now! You have to treat yourself I guess!0 -
Don't fret about spending money WTBSE- we all have times that we splurge or else we wouldn't be human.
Shiney, I also signed up for the 123 account but they won't change all my direct debits over because I'm an existing santander customer so need to do it all manually whenever I find the time!! What a pest.
My husband is away camping with friends this weekend so I'm hoping I get a chance to do a proper budget and see where I'm at. I'm so far behind where I want to be but not too bad.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
