  • Well done you :)

You are doing so well. Nothing better then a shop bought pizza, PJs and a movie. It's so great that you don't feel even slightly tempted to gamble and that you have found something better (and cheaper) as a substitute, but it has much greater value :)

When you find out about your exam results?

  • I've had lots of really !!!!!! things happen to me or I have done, and regretting them isn't worth the energy, because the experience is what makes you who you are.

You'll be a much stronger and wiser woman by the end. And you'll take much less for granted too x

So no feeling down or silly, because to get where you are going you needed to go down this path first.

So yes, bring on 2014 :)

  • Maybe ask the question as a new thread? I don't think it'll be a huge issue, I know if you have a job which requires security clearance they don't mind debts as long as you don't hide it.

From experience your credit score goes down when you have a lot of available credit.

Are you registered to vote? That helps.

Have to cancelled the old credit cards after you've transferred the balances? If they are not cancelled (you call up to cancel, not just cut the cards up) and you keep them open you have 'available credit' which acts to lower your score.

Wish I could advise more x

So, now I'm panicking, checked my credit file, and no surprise my current score is 'poor'. Anyway, then it dawned on me my new employer will probably run a credit check! Is this going to cost me my dream job? I have no defaults, CCJs, or anything like that, just the big sum of debt and searches where I was trying to get everything sorted and moved to 0% credit cards! I have not missed a payment on anything in the last 6 yrs. what do they check, is it just CCJs, defaults, IVAs etc or do they dig further?? It's not a role with any financial responsibility and the company is an insurance broker, it's a head office position. Any thoughts??

    Congratulations on the new job.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. As far as I am aware it is generally done for 2 key reason - AML/identity, and fit and proper test - Bankruptcy / CCJs / defaults / IVAs
