Loxxee, just wondered how you were doing?? Are you still on your debt free journey? How're you and your husband doing?
I really hope you are well. JxWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've logged in but I thought id drop by for a quick update.
So...my debt free plan was going great until a few months ago when I kind of lost my way. I've still cleared about £7k but I've been procrastinating and moving things around to better 0% offers so I'm not sure I'm doing as well as I should be. My new plan is to stay logged in here and update my spending every day, good or bad.
Me and my husband are doing great, the one good thing out of all of this is how much closer we are. Although I admit he's not been as stringent with checking up on what I'm spending and I've not been so honest with it either so that's the main reason I'm back, I thought I could do it on my own but temptation is so easy.
Anyway, here's the second first day of my road to a debt free life and I'm going to embrace it every step of the way!0 -
It's good to hear from you Loxxee, sounds like you're doing what nearly everyone does... Which is just fine as long as you're not getting into more debt. We slipped many of times... Recently I've been spending a bit too much too, not overpaying the morgage as much as we budgeted and not saving money (which now means not enough to give the cat a £300 op she needs... And insurance won't cover. Lucky the vet says it's fine to wait until we've saved)... My point is we all do it, we all get bored!!
My husband loses interest in our spending, and I find it slips when he does. I try and tell myself he shouldn't police me I'm in charge, I'm the frugal one... But it doesn't work!!!
So try not to beat yourself up (not that it sounds like you are) and dust yourself off and be determined

You started this thread 6 days before my youngest was born, she's nearly 15 months... £7k in 15 months is brilliant you know xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. As I said all those months ago... It took me 7 years to get debt free and it's a long hard journey. But review what went wrong and start again.
So glad you're enjoying your job x
I love that you and your husband are trying, children are what make life tick... Boy are they hard work
Word of caution: Budget
My debt was accumulated after my son was born (nearly 13 years ago) because I misjudged the lack of wages and the cost of a baby! Whoops!!
Anyway, my 2 youngest are growing soooo fast. DD1 turned 3 last month and DD2 is 15 months. I find it hard watching them growing so fast, lucky DD2 is a character who cuddles loads so it's a fun journey
I changed my Avatar for a photo of the girls from last weekend
DS is 13 this year... How do these things happen? LOLWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

Thank you, my girls are my blessings

Early mc are hard... I do sympathise... My children are the results of pregnancies 2, 8 & 10 and I bled with each one which resulted in early scans... It's a hard journey in itself, now we're done and enjoying it all
I think you make sense, we budgeted for small camping holidays, treats and Christmas and decided to extend the length of the debt so we could enjoy life (but without being extravagant) you definitely need a balance.
I'm glad you're taking control, and I hope you find the balance between debt and life... Once you're debt free it actually gets really scary!!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like.
