  • I was on my debt free journey for 7 years, I became debt free 3 years ago now. Over my journey I always enjoyed the sense of achievement I get when I save money on a gift or something budgeted. I enjoy it when I'm in my food budget, or when I make a new frugal meal we enjoy. When I have spare money, or when I've saved enough to buy something we needed.

Over and over I found these same things give you that sense of achievement and joy. But many times I've slipped, I've not cared or just forgotten to scrutinise my spending because I enjoyed it. When this happens I look at what I can do better, and I start again.

One time it wasn't just once, or a weekend. I Loved the feeling of spending money that when the guilt kicked in I spent more to feel better. I added a little to my debts, but when I realised I just picked up and dusted off and started again.

My point is, try and hold on to that feeling as much as you can, but if you slip don't ignore it, review it, move on more determined then ever. Because you'll get there, and when you do it will be worth it.

When you're debt free and living in your means, you'll still slip... Only you'll slip into savings and when it means waiting longer for the things you want... You'll kick yourself again and then get that sense of achievement again when you get back on track!

    It's worth it, every second.

Every slip was just a bump on the road...

So treasure the feeling you have now, it gets better :)

Wow what a fab post. So true xx

Great to see you doing so well Loxxee. xx
  • Yes well done to all of you! We will get there.

Incredibly envious Julie of your 3 years debt free status. I don't think I've ever got to a payday with money in the bank at the end of the month. Sad really at 38. Still time to change though!! (Oh think you mean an avatar, unless she's a flying kind ;-))

I'm hoping for a debt free date of July so need to stay focussed until then! x
  • Scuba - once you get there time speeds up :)

Truth is after we were debt free we saved for a deposit for a house, then I gave up work when DD1 came along. So I'm still living on that shoe string, only life is very different and much for fulfilling :)

Yes I meant Avatar I'm just pants at spelling ;)

Good luck with your debt free date, life can be very different, but you appreciate what you do have much more x
