We talked to a couple of these groups and even though we didn't get our mutt from them, I still contribute money to save them and I know they take dogs from all over the UK.
If you let me know the name, I'll look out for him on their facebook page.
They won't know his name - they will have to give him a new name because this stupid girlfriend said she found him:(0 -
I hate saying this and hate the thought of such a young dog being PTS because it was brought up wrongly BUT, it might be better than the conditions it had been living in and brought up in. Far better it be put to sleep than end up with any of his drug dealing friends who might have treated it even worse, far better than being given away on gumtree to be used as a bait dog. At least the poor little mite would be at peace and safe at Rainbow Bridge.
If the girlfriend was used to kicking it and the owner trained it to be aggressive, makes you wonder how he made it aggressive. Just giving it away to anyone would not mean it was likely to get a good loving home, it could have ended up anywhere and even suffer worse treatment than it already has. The shame of this isn't that it has ended up with the dog warden and might be put to sleep, it is that it ended up with an irresponsible owner in the first place. Poor little mite, I hope it is one of the lucky ones who finds a good forever home where it can learn that not all humans are bad people, such a shame if it doesn't and ends up spending its last days in a kennel instead of a loving home being spoilt.
I know that when I die, I would much rather my dog be PTS rather than end up in an unsuitable home. I have left strict instructions that he be returned to the rescue he came from, but he came from a really good rescue who are SO careful about where the dogs go and I KNOW they would want him back to rehome themselves.0 -

You're right. At least if he is PTS he won't be hurt and scared any more.
It all just makes me so angry that these scumbags have zero regard for the feelings and needs of the helpless creatures they own.:(0 -
You only have to watch programmes like the dog rescuers on at the moment on channel 5 to see how little regard is made for the welfare of dogs, and of course many other creatures on any animal rescue programme.
What i cannot understand is why they get them in the first place if they are not willing to spend time and money on them, and most of all, give them love.
The programme last night about the german shepherds was heart breaking. What a way to treat dogs.Thank god they were found.0 -
Such a sad thread, lump in my throat reading it, Really hope he finds a home and all the others that are just dumped0

Sadly I reckon the best course of action is to put the poor dog to sleep.0

How horribly sad.
I've just come upon this thread and i'm not sure about how things happen if someone is going to prison, but just so people know, if you end up in hospital for an extended period of time and can't rely on family or friends to take care of your pets social services have a duty to kennel them for a certain length of time (ask to see one). It doesn't go on for ever, but it does last (I think a couple of months..at times or used to and can also be extended and reviewed).
It can give a bit of breathing space if you have to work out what to do next and gives time to find alternatives.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Thanks calicocat. As I said, the dog's gone with the dog warden now but wish I'd known about social services' possible involvement a few days ago.
If they could have helped perhaps the dog might have been given more of a chance.:(0 -

Sorry I hadn't seen this earlier, no definite with S.S as they would I imagine have different protocols in different areas, and certainly for prison , I haven't been on much last couple of weeks. If someone is in hospital though it is an option for a while .Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

I'll certainly remember that in future though0
