Please help me get rid of cold callers(i need a sticker) :(

Had a door knock from EYG windows man today - he saw my no cold callers sign and thought it didn't apply to him as he wasn't selling anything...just handing out invitations to get a free quote!!!!! I pointed out the 'no uninvited callers' bit and he said, 'but what if a friend came round uninvited?'. Numpty. He wasn't at all pleased that I took his name and said I would complain. If he'd apologised I wouldn't mind (well I would a bit...but Im actually steaming) but he was argumentative and unpleasant. Concerns me that he is door knocking on less argumentative people's doorsteps.

My local neighbourhood watch gave me a sticker. It hasn't worked though, if anything I've had more cold callers since I put the sticker up!

Slightly different angle but I help my Daughter do a monthly magazine round. It's a good quality magazine and not what I consider junk mail, but we have been respecting the signs on doors that say "no junk mail", or words to that effect.

Two months back the magazines were dropped off to us with a letter explaining that magazines were to be put through every door, no matter what any sign about junk mail might say! It went on to say that they would deal with any complaints. It didn't say what to do if an angry house owner confronted my 14 year old.

We ignored the letter, but it shows the contempt many companies hold for door messages.
