That's really weird. If someone calls up that sounds like a good candidate then I want them to be able to contact me. Why would I not?
You seem to have very strange ideas about the world of work, relative to mine, we must have worked in very different environments, I think.0 -
What do you think that they are going to do with it? Do you imagine that people are calling up employers, with enough knowledge about them to give a good job pitch, then collecting email addresses, one at a time, to sell to Nigerian scammers?
For one thing, if someone is qualified to work for me then they are listed on Bloomberg, and I can check them out while on the phone. Even if they were not, though, there is nothing wrong with helping someone out. I want good staff, they are hard to find. Putting obstacles in their way is not a good idea.0 -

donnajunkie wrote: »the business address and phone number is different to your private email. anyway spending money on a phone call to enable you to apply for free via email is odd. you might as well just apply by post.
ETA speaking to someone prior to applying can create much more interest to the employer than another generic CV. The conversation could reveal key info about a job allowing the CV to be tailored to match and rapport to be built. Many jobs aren't even advertised or mat be possibility of a job if/when the right person comes along. Once the CV has been sent following up may quickly lead to interview and job for the taking. All for the small cost of a call.0 -
