It's called "Monton Village" now?Odie_Schmodie wrote: »How about Eccles? Some parts can be rather rundown and uninviting, but some streets are great, with a solid community feeling. The town centre is depressing but the tram runs there, and depending on where you are the Trafford Centre is on a bunch of bus routes and of course has free parking- open until 10PM too, I think a huge service to anyone who works uneven hours and travels a lot and might just want to have a stroll and some distraction until 10PM at night! 100K won't get you something in the nicest parts (I used to live in Monton Village, which is wonderful) but it will get you something close to the tram (and in fact train) station.
Blimey, it was plain old Monton, when I used to drink in the Drop Inn.

Sorry for lack of replies. I'm looking at these two:

I'd welcome any thoughts on the areas - I've driven around both at various times of day, and they seem just fine, but then you never do know.0 -
Hi folks. Any thoughts on these two?
Also wondering if anyone has recommendations for a surveyor? I'd like to have someone in mind before putting in an offer.0 -

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I have only skimmed the thread.
As you are moving to a completely new area wouldn't it be preferable to rent first ?
You can then speak to colleagues who live in various areas and spend your spare time visiting different places (not to mention, you may not like your new job and want to move back to where you are !).0 -
Thanks acc2. I have thought long and hard about renting, but for various reasons the costs quickly spiral. As for the job, it's so hard to find work in my sector I'd probably have to lump it!
Ftb doll, you've confirmed my first instinct. Pity though, it's a nice wee house!0
