My two cats are getting a new radiator bed because they've gotten too big and it's torn through, and a new scratching post because that's looking pretty poor also!

    :o

The routine for ours is inevitably different.....for a start, we are both home ( my husband is normally away during the week) , no clients are popping in for me and the house might be full of guests or, for the dogs first time ever this year, jut DH and I! This so rarely happens it will be odd.

Mine definitely enjoy knowing the routine and take on fort in it, the most nervous one in particular, but the also are expected o, and usually express excitement, at change to routine. :)

What am I buying my cats for Christmas?

    Nothing.

They don't know it's Christmas and wouldn't care if they did, because they are animals.

Then again, I don't buy much for people either. :)

The people who get ,ost excited about Christmas here are one of the cats ....we even call her Christmas cat. She loes the tree, the lights and decorations, spending time each day sitting watching it. She also loves unwrapped gifts for the wrappig paper.

The second is my Jewish husband who finds christmas beautiful in its belief and captivating in its traditions.

For me as well as respect for a faith i was brought up in amd find beauty in, its one of very, very many days to take stock be thankful, remember all the positives. My guys are a positive. I wouldn't personally go ott, but something to make them happy ( and keep them busy while we are busy but not with them) seems no great travesty.:)

I think it all comes down to personal preference. I don’t look at buying gifts making you a good or bad owner. The most terrible owners could buy their pets presents on Christmas, doesn’t make them any better the rest of the time.

I guess technically for our cats it’s not any different to any other time of the year since we buy them treats every month only difference is they’ll be in a gift bag for them to play in. We all go to my parents for Christmas (she only lives 10 minutes away) so the cats will be left alone from around 8 hours which is no different to their Monday to Friday routine. They'll just get the usual fuss and games when we get back.

Mine gets spoilt. He gets presents from me and OH and my mum and dad.

This year he is getting a waterproof coat, a flasher for his collar (he is black and can't be seen in the dark), a couple of pigs ears, a couple of tripe filled hooves, at least 1 new toy and some bits and pieces from Pets at Home. He will also get a Christmas dinner

This will be our first christmas with our cat and I'm over-excited about it already :o:D.

I'd like to get him one of the scratching post tower/bed things but there's no way of knowing if he'd like it. Don't want to spend the money if he never even looks at it (am happy to spend it if it's something he likes).

He'll also get a couple of toys. His favourite is a 70p mouse from asda so a few bits like that, nothing expensive.

    Maybe some treats.

    Bit of turkey for dinner.

Yes, he's spoilt! :D He's been an absolute godsend the last few months and will be getting us through a difficult day (our babies were due christmas day).

Love the idea of an advent calendar for him - where's a good place to look for these?

You can pick a dreamies calendar in the supermarket for around £3 or zooplus do a Cosma Snackies one for £4.99. Must add two Dreamies calendars to the shopping list.

Exactly, different things suit different households. I was just pointing out that my cat does very much 'care' about whatever she thinks is going on (the rest of the crew are pretty much heathens like me).

They all love having us at home together for longer, and the better walk they get on Boxing Day and the people who come visiting etc etc.

We don't buy much for people either. Just small gifts. Like the pets, we just love being to get her, and looking at the tree and enjoying the beauty of everything.
