weird eggs found under shed

Ok thanks everyone, Im kinda releived they arent eggs (embarrased n feel stupid). I have suspicions about mice as i find bits of chewed paper in my other shed, as to how they have managed to get under the shed baffles me, but I think would rule out a squirrel, and to my relief a few hundred hatched "thingies" running around my garden.
We live next to a field and get the field mice in the shed. They're really cute but chew everything.
They started coming into the house and the rodent inspector said they can get in through a gap less than the thickness of a pencil.0 -
My cat decided to demonstrate last night how to keep the mice population from invading the house... eventually I gave up on telling her off for playing with it on the drive and left her to it - I just hope she hasn't left it in front of my veggie neighbours door - again... :eek:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! My old cat (passed away):( occasionally found the odd feild mouse and dragged them home so as to play with them. He never actually would eat them and more often than not let them get away.
I do live by feilds so get the occasional wanderer in the garden. Ive had a few Frogs, indeed they seem common in my garden, and I have so far seen 3 foxes, 2 hedgehogs and once saw what I thought was a badger. I dont mind them popping in so much.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

It's those mice that are leaving the nut shells.
We get loads of frogs (no water nearby), also hedgehogs. Have seen a muntjac deer on the green outside the house and fox cubs playing close by.
Frequently see kestrels preying on the small birds also green woodpeckers, greenfinches, redwings and other unusual birds. There were humming bird hawkmoths in the garden last year when it was hot. The RSPB say they come from the Mediterranean.
Pheasants /partridges live in the fields also.
We're on the outskirts of a town so to see so much wildlife is amazing.0 -
I can tell you what they are..... they are cob nut shells, the hole at the end is where some little field mouse has gnawed thro´the shell to get at the nut.
Different types of mice and squirrels have definate gnaw patterns, I´m sure that you´d be able to find them on a website. Little field mice would find the basement of your shed very cosy.
Oops sorry I posted this as soon as I saw the photo but before getting to the end of all pages, when you all had said it was mice0 -
Ughh - just discovered a pile of these whilst sweeping the garage out this morning. Thought that something must have burst open initially. Mystery solved but now am paranoid we have mice in the (integral) garage. Don't have any fruit trees or either of my neighbours as far as I am aware so don't know where they are coming from. I hate furry things!0
