    Other live bearing reptiles:
Some lizards: Solomon Island skink, Blue-tongue skink, Shingle-backed skink
    Some chameleons: Jackson's chameleon
Some snakes: All boas, All vipers

But as I say I don't think we have those here in the UK

edited to add - I'm pretty darned sure we don't have rattel snakes etc here but I don't know what the hecka skink is so hence the dunno - just in case you thought I was totally useless with my reptiles lol!

A skink is similar to a monitor lizard, but much smaller. They generally live in places like Australia, we definitely don't have them here (yet, unless global warming speeds up!).

Thanks for all your ideas, but I dont think thy are rattle snakes or lizards as I havent seen any of those lurking around the garden (thank god). If I can work out how to put the photo on here I will. I promise once I have established what they are I will let you all know.

Incidentley, I am aware that we there are tell tale signs of mice, so the theory by Gebo26 sounds probable, but I am pretty sure they are eggs.

Slow worms give birth to live young. They are inside a sort of membrane, but it's not really an egg.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

From the pic I'd say they are almost certainly some kind of wild cherry maybe damson stones but definately not egg casings.

Oh go on then... They are almond shells... something rodenty has obviously been collecting them and munching. A close up would eliviate all doubt but from that picture I am 99.9% certain they are almond shells :)
