Report the incident to the local safeguarding board. This seems to the link for Manchester.

I'm afraid victims of bullying have very little protection at school and the bully always seems to have the upper hand, Why should the OP's daughter have to be taken into isolation and the bully allowed to wander free round the school as nothing has happened.0 -
Dont become a victim, get round to the boys house yourself and fight back. When someone can see you are as strong as they are they may back down. Dont bother with mps etc.
you dont have to be a victim.:footie:0 -
RE Police.
Went to to local station to make formal complaint but no suitable officer available apparently.
I have been given the email address to the Chief Constable and told to make the formal complaint in writing direct to him. I also managed to get the Crime/Log number.
Call the station now and ask for the duty inspector - there will ALWAYS be one as s/he is there to make tactical decisions and the system relies on that grade being available as a decision maker.
Ask to call in and see him / her after work - if s/he is not available then ask for the request to be escalated as a matter of urgency.
State that you feel your daughter is in danger and believe that they need to take the threat seriously.
You need to be persistent.
In the meantime, email the Chief Constable, head it 'URGENT ACTION REQUIRED - Knife Crime - Threat Received.
Give the Crime ref and ask that urgent attention be given to the fact that a threat has been made on social media, your daughter was confronted with a knife and that Officers have failed to take this seriously.
Give your mobile number...
Do this right now... and his team should be able to start trouble-shooting within the hour.
Call Victim Support when you get home.
Act NOW - don't waste another day by waiting until you get home.:hello:0 -

you dont have to be a victim.
... and how will this actually help?
The boy's parents have been unavailable to the school - sounds like they may know their son is 'trouble' or, conversely, feel he is a misunderstood angel.
Either way, going there is likely to cause an altercation. With altercations come neighbours phoning the police.
Police attend, boy's parents say ' this man came here threatening us and assaulted my husband'... OP gets carted off for breaching the peace at best... assault / ABH if unlucky.
That's one way to get the attention of the police... but not in a good way.:hello:0 -
If anyone should be taught in isolation it should be the lad who's threatened her.0

UPDATE...
Just had a further message from the school.
the Boy turned up for lessons this afternoon.
he was confronted by his head of year in his first lesson and searched.
They found the knife in his bag, it was an exact match to the description my daughter gave to the school so there was no denying it.
He has been excluded from school with immediate effect. Unfortunately they have not told me how long this exclusion is for as I believe it is no longer common for schools to permenently exclude a child from the school.
This is a good result so far but we are still very unhappy with the goings on at the school and have decided we will be removing her following the end of term and moving her to a new school closer to home if possible.
I am hoping to see the schools head later on Friday as I don't work Fridays.
Re the police.
I have arranged a meeting with the Duty Inspector on Friday, again as I have nothing else to get in the way.
I would go today but I'm at work and won't get home until after 7:30 and I can't just leave. Plus I want to have everything together, written down, i's dotted and t's crossed.
My daughters only fear now is the possibility of retribution as this kid goes to the local youth club and has a few friends in our town.
I know it's like she is being punished but I think its best if she keeps a low profile for a couple of weeks.
One thing is for certain, facebook, twitter, any other social media is banned on our PC/laptops. Even with supervision we can't ensure the bullying won't start again.
With regards to why my daughter should be in isolation, I think the school thought it would be easier to control the situation with her, rather than with him. It will also protect her from his mates who could cause trouble.
Can anyone tell me what the schools legal responsibilities are now that they have found the knife etc. Are they duty bound to report the incident, and if so to whom .
Thanks[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

you dont have to be a victim.
Fight back and end up getting charged yourself? What ridiculous advice. What if the father for example pulled a knife the same way as his son did?
Dont bother with MP's? Why not? And the girl isnt a victim, shes on the receiving end of ridiculous, violent and anti social behaviour.
Terrible advice.0 -

Policy is in schools here if an offensive weapon is found on the premises, police should be automatically informed by the school.0 -
Glad there's some progress. Cannot believe you were turned away from the police station. There must have been someone in charge.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
