Bullying taken a frightening twist

My daughter has been bullied at school for the past few months. We have been in constant contact with the school but nothing seems to be getting better. we have informed the school that we are willing to 'face the wrath of the truant officers' so to speak, and take her out of school if things don't improve.
Well today may be the nail in the coffin.
Over the half term break a kid from her school threatened her over facebook. he said he would stab her, before running off as a teacher was approaching
Both I and her Mum messaged this lad on facebook and told ghim this was unacceptable and if he contineud we would go to the police. Hoping this 'threat' would make him see sense. We also obtained his address from a mutual aquaintance.
Today my Daughter went into school as normal.
on her way home, before she had left the school grounds, this kid pulled her to one side, pulled out a flick knife, and told her he was going to stab her.
We have phoned the police and I have arranged to go into the school in the morning.
What would you do in this circumstance.
i no longer have faith that the school can adequately protect my daughter.
Suggestions?

I am sure both school and police will take the carrying if a knife very seriously.
When are you seeing the police? Was there a witness?
An horrendous situation. Hope it is sorted for you and your daughter.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
At the meeting, I would check that the local Education Authority has been informed, if not, ask that they do so, and ask for contact details of the Education Welfare Officer (who deals with absences) - in my experience they are very good at helping in such circumstances.
Good luck (and, although it is not your responsibility, that lad needs help as well)0 -
Wow how scarey for your daughter! I have two girls age 4 and 7 and I'm dreading them going to secondary school because of stories like this.
The police WILL take this very very seriously as the kid was in possession of a weapon and also threatening your daughter.
I hope it gets resolved and the kid gets severely punished, hugs for your daughter....how old is she?ADVISE-"I advise you get help"
ADVICE-"I have some advice for you"

I would NOT allow my daughter to go to school until this child had been removed, and interviewed under caution, and all witnesses to this interviewed, and him charged with possessing an offensive weapon, and threatening behaviour.
I would not have engaged him on face book, I would have contacted the police at the first point that she was threatened. Zero Tolerance all the way.
I wouldn't wait for the school, or a teacher to deal with it. They just want an easy life, with no publicity. But any one that gets a flick knife out in public needs the heavy hand of the law to come down on them ASAP.
As far as school goes, I would be demanding that the LEA investigate their inability to deal with the growing escalation, and the fact that it has got worse since they were informed. I would also be contacting my Local MP and councillor and asking for help.
Demand that if this person is not charged with an offence that he is moved from that school becuase it is completely unacceptable.
Bullying Boils my !!!! but getting a knife out goes beyond my patience.0 -

They cannot (will not) do anything.
According to them because the incident happened in school it is for the school to resolve, and the kid is allowed to have a knife as long as it is less than 3" in length.
I cannot believe they were so crass about the situation.
Going to complain to the police (not that it will make a difference), and write to MP because as far as I was aware, carrying any sort of blade, especially at 14/15 is not allowed.
We ahve decided that if the school cannot guarantee her protection in the meeting tomorrow we are pulling her out of school.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

My daughter would NOT EVER be returning to that schoolBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

i would get in touch with your local newspaper , nothing stirs schools in to action faster than a bit of bad publicity ,especially if it highlights bullying and their inability to deal with it0

Dreadful situation. I wouldn't send her back to that school anytime soon.
I can't believe it is ok to have a blade of any sort and that the police are powerless. What is this world coming to?0 -
Thats my thought on it, but we have to see what they say tomorrow otherwise we have no leg to stand on if we get hauled befgore the courts re truancy.Blackpool_Saver wrote: »My daughter would NOT EVER be returning to that school
If I don't like what they say, if they won't exclude/expell the boy immediately, she will be coming home with me and staying home until we find a suitable school for her.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
