Worrying unnecessarily (I hope)

My cycles have been 28-32 days for the last 3 years (since I had my daughter) but it is now day 36 and my period still hasn't started. I know that this isn't hugely late and it keeps feeling like it will start but then nothing happens and I am starting to worry. We have always been very careful but I'm panicking a bit in case maybe something wasn't as effective as it should have been and we just didn't notice. I know the sensible thing to do would be to do a test but I just can't face it yet. Although my husband hasn't been sure about having another child when I told him I was late he was quite positive about it. But I really thought I had started yesterday and told him that. Therefore I don't want to tell him anything until I know for sure. How long do you think I should leave it before I test? Again, I know I could do it now but I keep thinking that it could just be taking a bit longer to arrive this month. I think I just need to vent!
P. S. I hope I don't offend or upset anyone with this post, I know that there are lots of people ttc on this board.

Think it depends on whether you want to know now or can wait a few days. If it was me I'd have probably tested by now but we are all different.0

You can get tests in packs of 3 from the 99p shop, just as accurate as the £10 a go jobs, so you could be tested today AND in a few days!
Do a test. Beats not sleeping for worrying

How would you feel if you were pregnant?0

Just take a test... pop out now and buy one and you'll have the answer.
Far better than continuing to post about not knowing surely?:hello:0 -

I would love another child eventually (and after a spell of being undecided my husband has recently admitted he feels the same) but now would be the worst possible time for it to happen due to a decrease in finances etc (my husband was made redundant and although he has been very fortunate to find another job quickly the wages are much lower). Having said that if it did happen now we would have to find a way of managing but I suppose I am hoping it would happen at an easier time for us. So very mixed feelings really

You're right, I know you're right, I think I am just scared what it will say, even though I know deep down it's highly unlikely I am pg. I was about 10 days late before I could bear to test when I was pregnant last time and that was planned! I didn't want to get my hopes up then and this time I'm too worried about what the result might be.0 -
Take a test, worrying about it may make it even longer to appear if its negative, and best to know asap if it isn't.
Good luck, either way.0 -
The alternative to testing is that you will probably just sit and worry (which in turn can delay your period). I know if it were me I'd rather just know, get it over with and then deal with the outcome.:A
