We have a real tree so I like put it up around 10/12 days before Christmas so it still looks fresh and lovely on Christmas morning.
We are having the downstairs of our house redecorated, new carpets and blinds the first week of December this year so it will be a race to get the tree up on time!0 -
Our tree goes up 28th November (my birthday) it's a tradition my grandparents started the year I was born, and I continue it with my own children. It took a bit of convincing dh when we first got together, but now its him & dd's that put the tree up as my "birthday surprise".
The rest of the decs, outside lights etc go up the weekend after, or of 28th. Everything comes down Jan 3rd.It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
First weekend in December, this year however it will be going up on 29th/30th November, as it's our only free weekend.0

Its November for goodness sake what is wrong with everyone! Christmas happens at the end of December . Ours goes up by tradition on Christmas Eve and down on Twelfth Night... Put up now no one even notices it by Christmas whereas coming down on Christmas morning to a sparkly tree is so nice and exciting..
For goodness sake, don't you know your meant to put it up 12 days before.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

Gosh I must admit I do agree with the other poster who says its November!! ... November is surely just too early to be putting a Xmas tree up?
Even if I could get away with it I dont think I would. I get so fed up with seeing Xmas adverts and the shops full of Xmas stuff in November by the time the day comes round its taken the excitment off the whole thing for me
We have a real tree so it goes up mid December and I cannot wait because 1. it means its Xmas :T and 2. because it will mean all the building work is done and my house will be back to normal and no resemble a building siteAnt. :cool:0 -
If it's too early for some people, then no one's forcing them to put their decs up! I'm the same, I wouldn't put anything up before December (well, midnight November 30th...)
But if people enjoy putting them up in November, or flipping July I say let them get on with it! Especially in this part of the forum, which is all about us Christmas weirdos after all, let's not get all judgemental or negative.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -

This sounds about right.
Christmas shouldn't even be mentioned before December.
Surely if you put a tree up now, it'll be dead by early Dec?0 -
I imagine people who put trees up before December are using artificial ones. Or maybe live trees with roots.
Although I've put a real one up in very early December before and it's still been in great condition come Christmas. (as long as you water it a lot.):rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0
