Its November for goodness sake what is wrong with everyone! Christmas happens at the end of December . Ours goes up by tradition on Christmas Eve and down on Twelfth Night... Put up now no one even notices it by Christmas whereas coming down on Christmas morning to a sparkly tree is so nice and exciting..

That's your way of doing it, no need to be so sharp in your reply! I don't see anything wrong with having decorations up early!

We put them up the weekend nearest to 1st December, fortunately falls on a Sunday this year!

First of December! Or as close to then as I have time.

Must find all the batteries in advance this year. It's a pre-lit tree that runs off batteries, and last year I had to adjourn the putting up until OH got home from the football, as I couldn't find where he'd put the thousands of batteries I KNEW he had.

First weekend in December. Used to go up later but ever since we had DD it goes up earlier. If it was left to DD and DW it would already be up, but I drew the line at it at least being in December.

Depends upon when I start having people round for meals etc. Probably at the beginning of December. Wouldn't feel right (for us) before then. It stays up till just after New Year when I can't wait to clear it away and de-clutter in the hope that Spring will come early.
  • We have a real tree so tend not to put it up until middle of December and then it doesn't come down till twelfth night. Though I do buy the tree early in December, cut a sliver off the trunk and keep it outside in a bucket of water.
  • I usually put ours up in the first weekend of December, but this year our son is being baptised on Sunday 1st and so we will probably leave it until Saturday 7th this year, and make a fun Christmassy day with the kids 'helping'!

I usually take ours down a day or two before New Years Eve, as I like to celebrate and play games with the kids on New Years. This year I will take it down on Monday 30th, give the house a good clean and do some food shopping for new year.

I then wake up on New Years Day to a relatively clean and tidy house and a fresh start to the New Year, along with a family walk followed by our New Years Day dinner, and then the start of the diet on the 2nd lol!
  • 1st of December, we have a real one so I don't like to put it up too early because it doesn't last as long, we take it down around the second weekend in Jan or when it looks too dead!

We will be off to buy our tree in a couple of weeks though so I'm very excited about that :j
  • Unfortunately, our tree stands infront of the understairs cupboard (in the lounge) so we don't tend to put it up until about a week before Christmas as it annoys me having to pull the tree out of the way to get in the cupboard - things always fall off it! If I had my own way, it'd go infront of the window but OH reckons it'd impede his view of the TV

I've got my eye on a new tree this year though, a slimmer one with a log base so hopefully it'll be a bit more stable and easier to slide out of the way.

  • Our goes up on the 1st of December along with a few outside garden lights. They are sooo cheery on cold dark December mornings/evenings. It will come down on 12th night!

Ours go up first weekend in December and down on New Years Day (fresh start). I see from previous posts that December the 1st is a Sunday this year so I guess that's when I'll drag mine out of the attic then.
