I wanted to call my DD Niamh or Aisling but my ex a) couldn't spell them b) [STRIKE]couldn't[/STRIKE] refused to pronounce them correctly so I took that as an indicator of how other people would act too :(

There's a girl in my daughter's year called Maisy Boo. I had to ask my daughter several times whether she was sure that Boo was really part of her proper name and apparently it is.

Wasn't that Jamie Oliver that started that trend - 'Daisy Boo'. Very cute on a child/toddler but that kid has to grow up someday.

Makes me think of Monsters Inc tbh

'Boo' was just because you don't know what the middle name will be, right? Surely you're not actually going to put 'Boo' on her birth certificate? No, normal people wouldn't, would they?

I agree with most that if you want Ella or Bella go with Isabelle, and see which suits her best, although I do prefer Isobel.

I would go with either Isobel (or one of its variants) or Eleanor and then shorten it to whatever you want. My daughter is an Eleanor but we call her Ellie. There is also an Ella in her class at school.

isobel reminds me of Fifi Trixibelle

I think you are missing two tricks here .
1 pick a name and then try and get a nick name ,then avoid that name
example Isobel becomes is a bell necessary on a bicycle Wright .

Trick 2 call the child brat .Then when you go outside and shout come in here you brat the neighbours wont talk about you .;)

    What about Daisy-Ella?

Could someone please explain this awful fashion of hyphenating first names... invariably used with 'alternative' spellings as well...

This isn't a dog or a toy that's being named, it's a child that has to live with the parents' dodgy choices for a very long time.

I met somebody yesterday who introduced her daughter as "Sienna-Sorelle".

Unless she begs for a change by deed poll/does it herself at (16?) 18.

We had a dog called Ella (as in what the ella you doing now when she was a naughty puppy)
I know a few Bellas so it's not unusual and as the mother of boys I can guarantee Bella Boo would quickly become Belly Bum when she starts school.
Daisy is nice but makes me think of a dainty little girly girl so may not suit her as she grows up.
