    Hi
My daughter is Isabella but she is known as Izzy.
We went for a traditional name that we liked that could also be shortened as appropriate.
Its not just about what you like now but what you and your daughter can live with

I can't imagine how weird it would be to have a name that was the same as someone else's. Google tells me that there are a few people in the world with the same name as me, but I've never met any of them.

If you want to choose a flower name, why not make it a little more unusual than Daisy? Primrose, maybe? Or Iris? Even Zinnia?

There's a girl in my daughter's year called Maisy Boo. I had to ask my daughter several times whether she was sure that Boo was really part of her proper name and apparently it is.

I like longer names that can be shortened. Our eldest is Jessica and youngest Benjamin. When they're being nice, they're Jessie and Ben but when they're being horrible, the full names get used!

Isabel/Isobel etc is my favourite as it can be shortened by them if they want to a variety of different versions. It's a lovely name and works well with your surname.

I agree with Isabella - she could be Ella or Bella from that name.
    Congratulations by the way!

That would be my choice as well, it's a beautiful name and would cover both shortened forms. Always nice to have a grown up version for the future.

    Daisy is my preference.

    What about Daisy-Ella?

    Hi,
    Thanks for all your messages..
    My surname is Wright.
I do like Isabelle but the other half wanted a short name like bella boo wright..
    Other comments would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Boo?

That is a nickname. When I was growing up, I actually thought my younger sister's name was Gub-Gub as she was always called that at home. I figured it out when I was 5 and Father Christmas left presents with her actual name on but Gub-Gub got nothing :rotfl:

I rather like the idea of imagining the name for a female barrister, or something similar.

    .

exactly. I remember seeing a young woman doctor being interviewed in a telly news item, she was very articulate and interesting to listen to. Her name was was flashed on the bottom of the screen as they do, and I was taken aback to see her first name was Courtney. I immediately thought of EastEnders or TOWIE.

I agree it seems like that now, but as all the little girls called Daisy (and Poppy and Maisie and Willow and Sophie and so on) grow up, it won't seem so odd.

I agree the others are a little twee, but Sophie?? Sophie's a classic name that never goes out of fashion, suiting both young and old alike.

It's weird how different people have different feelings about names isn't it.

Really? You think everyone in the world would be better all having their own individual name?

I agree with the poster who said about thinking about a female barrister. That is exactly what I think of when thinking about names.

Op please don't use boo! That's what cartoon ghosts say, it's not a name! Poor kid would be one of those people who are embarrassed by their middle name.

Another vote for calling her Isabelle or Isabella then it can be shortened to Bella or Ella whichever suits her and it sounds lovely with your surname. You could then use Daisy as a middle name.

We have an Isabelle in the extended family and on occasion when she was little the comment 'Is a bell necessary on a bike' has been used at which her mum has frowned and called whoever said it a play on their name (and you can think of a negative / funny connotation for every name if you have a mind to.)

Congratulations, I would love to have had the dilemma of what to call a baby girl, having only had boys !
