People didnt start randomly calling my mum Norma, was just the name she was always known as, as I said, was the name my gran wanted on her birth cert and my grandpa said no, but shes been known as it all her life.
My mum was known by a completely different name to the one that was on her birth certificate. Her father went and registered her with a name, then, being 1940, he went off to the war, and by the time he came back my mother was 5 and known by all and sundry as something completely different (not even a derivative of her registered name).
It used to fox me completely as a child, how this different name used to be on official letters, bank statements, cheque books, etc... but no-one ever referred to her as it in real life. When she died, her sister (my aunty) had to be shown her death certificate before she'd believe it wasn't her middle name as that is what she'd assumed literally all her life.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -

One of my aunts has completely abandoned her name and has refused to be called Marjorie since childhood :rotfl:52% tight0 -

This was thrashed out pages back!
I'm all for calling a child whatever you're going to call them - DS is Alex, not Alexander. All very well having Alexander as a fall back but in my experience adults tend to go for the short form more than children do. I know of no adults who are referred to as Alexander. Same with Sam, Ben, etc.. And I don't see the problem with Kate or Sally.
Admittedly though, I'm not keen on "cutesy" alternatives such as Gracie, etc....
Hope the OP plumped for Daisy. Other than it being DD's middle name (and my preferred first name for her), I know only one other Daisy locally, and the DD of one of my FB friends (who used to frequent these parts).

Long form names give you something to shout when you're REALLY mad at them for misbehaving though. If they're REALLY REALLY REALLY out of line you can break out all the middle names as well!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
When I looked at the names I wasn't sure if you were naming a baby girl or a pet cow.."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0
