Violet to me sounds like an old lady but old lady names seem to be very fashionable at the moment!
Violet is my daughters third name, and yes, she was named after an old lady, my Nan who died the year before she was bornIt suits her somehow though.

Grace Keavy Wright sounds great to meIt's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

It's not a pet you're naming but a person.
This was thrashed out pages back!I'm all for calling a child whatever you're going to call them - DS is Alex, not Alexander. All very well having Alexander as a fall back but in my experience adults tend to go for the short form more than children do. I know of no adults who are referred to as Alexander. Same with Sam, Ben, etc.. And I don't see the problem with Kate or Sally.
Admittedly though, I'm not keen on "cutesy" alternatives such as Gracie, etc....
Hope the OP plumped for Daisy. Other than it being DD's middle name (and my preferred first name for her), I know only one other Daisy locally, and the DD of one of my FB friends (who used to frequent these parts).

I think Violet's a really pretty name. If my youngest had been a girl my son wanted us to choose the name Violet, after the girl in 'series of unfortunate events'52% tight0 -

I just thought through my classes and I have at least one Daisy in every class I teach :rotfl: still a pretty name though. And never mind Daisy - I have one class with FIVE Charlottes.0 -

There's none in DD/DS's school and that's out of nearly 500 pupils!! Although there is a Keanu and a Princess!!
DD's best pal is Charlotte. Except she's never ever been known as Charlotte. She's Charlie.

My other sister is called Olivia, and known universally as "Lily".
My mum is known as Norma, to most people, my gran wanted to call her Norma but my grandpa said no, was to be Eleanor, but she was known all through school as Norma apart from one teacher who refused to call her it and everyone who knows her calls her that, apart from work colleagues, its funny, because Im used to hearing her called Norma, so when people call her Eleanor, I always want to say, thats not her name, its Norma.
My gran was Eleanor too. And no offence, as much as I love my mum and I loved my gran, I wouldnt have wanted to be the third generation Eleanor in my family.0 -
I sincerely hope that my daughter never gets called Norma
My mums preference is to be called Norma, was my grans as well. If she didnt want to be called that, shed refer to herself as Eleanor.
People didnt start randomly calling my mum Norma, was just the name she was always known as, as I said, was the name my gran wanted on her birth cert and my grandpa said no, but shes been known as it all her life.
As I said before, when people call her Eleanor it sounds weird to me, as Im used to most people calling her Norma and not Eleanor.0 -
Out of Daisy, Gracie or Roma, Id say Daisy, I agree roma sounds a bit odd. Not really sure about Gracie (my mums middle name is Grace), Daisy would be the one out of the 3 I like. I know someone called stroma, quite unusual.
But then its not my child is it0
