I live in the south east and my partner and i have planted our tomato plants out now. I can't really see us getting a hard-frost now, it's almost June.0

Can I ask do the plants go straight in the bag or do you have to use bottomless pots to contain them ,have got the plants and grow bags ,but , no pots as yet ,I need to know the procedure.0

You can, and thousands, including me, plant direct into the grow bags
Grow bags were designed just to do that, plant direct in a the bag
The bottomless pot onto a grow bag is a variation of the old "ring culture" method of growing toms
Either method is OKEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I have planted using the bottomless pot method but only because I find when I water the plants planted straight in the bag, I find the water goes everywhere and can wash soil out of the growbag. I position them vertically so there is still soil under then so that the tomato roots can get under the pots to grow out if necessary. It also allows me to use some of the really long rose flower pots that I had sitting around the potting shed!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

We plant straight into the bags, when we use them at all. The last couple of years we have planted straight into soil and used tomato feed.0

I have a tray of seedling that are now about 6 inches tall and a couple of grow bags to transfer them across to. The seed packets said to wait until they are around 15 cm tall before transplanting them into the grow bag.
This pop bottle method is new to me - I will have a look on google, but would appreciate any advice.

The upside down plastic bottle is used as a funnel
When pushed well into the bag, or any pot the water fills the bottle and gradually seeps into the root area, saves time & splashes
It can also be used in the garden, gets water right to the roots instead of wetting the surface
PS, you leave the bottle in the bag / pot / ground, it is not removed once wateredEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I'll be planting out my outside tomatoes this weekend, they've been hardening off for around a week so should be fine, especially as its been fairly cool this week.
Will be interesting to see if the kids actually leave any ripe ones on the plants as they will be planting along the side of the patio. All I seem to hear is blah blah blah!0 -
