I would wait a while longer. I live in the SE and I'm not putting my toms outside until first week in June, having just had some potatoes damaged by frost “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

What is going on with this weather???
Snow in April... My grapes have only the last two weeks started to sprout. And lasy year we had roses flowering in Novemberfor the second time in the year.????????
My toms did well though. To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
I've just had an aubergine and some courgettes germinate a whole two months after they were sown!!!!!
It really is weird, I must admit, as I had daffodils and crocus flowering in January but my irises are only just coming into bloom. My irises normally come out before the tulips, but all my tulips have been and gone with the last few in a sheltered spot just losing their petals now“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
It all depends on whether you have hardened them off or not. Mine have been outside for 6 weeks, some in the ground - some in pots - and none were affected by the frost here in the midlands over the last few days because they were properly hardened off.
It also depends on the type; so if you are growing some arctic or Russian types - you can get away with cooler temperatures anyway.
And, if you have a lot then you can take a chance with a few - but if you only have say 2 plants; then you might want to be more cautious.0 -
I live in the North West (Northern Ireland to be precise) and have had my tomatoes and cucumbers planted in pots outside now for five weeks after hardening them off.
Probably of no interest to anyone but me, but I found my first tomato and four baby cucumbers earlier this week! :j I know it's daft to get excited by things like this, but I do.

Blimey Pink, yours are going well. I have flowers on my tomatoes but nothing else. Cucumber is just still green and growing
I have mine in the greenhouse too!

Shocking isn't it? I can confirm the existence of said vegetables having been shown them repeatedly at the weekend.
Mine are like yours AB. But I blame it on being in the frozen north.0 -

She just got all the green fingered genes in our family. She was far more successful than me last year too.Luckily her tomato chutney is to die for so the more successful she is the better.
