I think the danger with Ouija boards is that they can mess with your head and make you doubt yourself.

It can mess with your head! even if you don't believe in 'spirits'.I think the danger with Ouija boards is that they can mess with your head and make you doubt yourself.
I also think that this is yet another troll thread.
However, the posters I have quoted have a point.
Susceptible people can be damaged by dabbling in the 'occult'. That damage comes from inside themselves - in a 'mess with their heads' kind of way.
So, I'd agree that it can be dangerous for some people.0 -
The Ouija board was 'invented' in 1890 by an American businessman, the patent is owned by Hasbro who own and distribute many popular games.
Wouldnt worry about it contacting any spirits or demons!0 -

Wouldnt worry about it contacting any spirits or demons!
Nor would I worry about the BiB.
However, there are many - otherwise rational - people who are very susceptible to this kind of suggestion.
So, although they may start off seeing the Ouija board as 'a bit of a laugh', all it needs is for something 'bad' to happen shortly after the Ouija board session, and they can very quickly convince themselves that it is related to the Ouija board.
If they go into the Ouija board session with a more credulous approach, then they're even more likely to 'see' consequences around them.
The dangers lie within the person's own mind, and the damage which can come from that.0 -

Hi, first post and a little bit odd, and im sure you going to agree. I was out with some friends who are school teachers and after a few drinks out at a local pub (not drunk) went back to one of their homes and began to talk about spirits, unfortunately not vodka or gin! It was quite an odd evening really as this was not what I was expecting but one of the teachers got out a ouija board and conducted what all i can say was a bizarre reading. I thought what the hell am i doing here but this was not just a jokey night, it was something that was done frequantly. I thought oh my god if someone could see all this we would be struck off! Not only this but some of the teachers were using this as a advice service too getting 'info' about other people and using this against them! This is really crazy but this is all bizarre. I had done this reluctanly a few occasions as I do not want to appear as a wet lettuce but I cannot believe school teachers where doing this. Should I forget about all this as a joke or what would you think if you were a parent knowing that this was going on.
I'm more interested in the bold writing. What is this suggesting?
Does this mean that individuals are around a table getting instructions or advice as the op says and going back to school and making trouble for others. I'm trying to get my head around it to give an example.
Ok, lets say these teachers are, as the op says not drunk and just messing about on a Ouija Board, but again says this is done often so they must be quite experianced conducting this kind of spirit reading (is that what its called?) and they involve a person they do not like , so lets say another teacher, or a pupil or even a family member, and begin chanting or what ever they do to contact the spirit world. Then get some information regarding another teacher from I don't know great uncle Henry the 7th. Great Uncle Henry informs the group that Mr Smith the maths teacher who is not at the Ouija meeting is having an affair with Mrs Jones the PE teacher. WOW this is some scandel to talk about in the staff room Monday morning.
So Monday morning comes and this is all gossip around the school, Mr Smith finds out from one of the Ouija freaks that he is having an affair with the PE teacher and a friend of the PE teacher is also friends with Mr Smiths wife, she runs round to her house and tells Mrs Smith that her husband is Having an affair with Mrs Jones. Mrs Smith is furious, they have a child in a marriage and now her husband is having an affair but its genuine information because its come from Great Uncle Henry and he's been dead for 50 years but spirits do not lie.
Great Uncle Henry does not lie because he predicted that the smith family had a Turkey the last Christmas and had Easter Eggs in 2009. he also predicted that Mrs Smith would fall pregnant when they married and have a baby, it could well be a boy but strong signals suggest it could well be a girl.
......................................I could go on foreverAll the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
