No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries November 2013

I managed to resist two magazines with freebies today, but I don't think I will have many use ups this month. Since participating here my will power is improving, although I still have goodly stocks of most things and will not graduate for a very long time.
I have never posted a stash list, mainly through laziness and hats off to those that think it will benefit them in doing so, I see lots of things that others have that I think I would like to try, these items go on to my "one day in the future" list.
I think the Project Pan in some form or another is a great idea, I for one am very guilty of having too many products in use at a given time and have to work hard in this area.
I think it is time for me to accept that I need to remove temptation and delete a lot of supplier and beauty box type notifications from my inbox feed. My next project perhaps? I do feel guilty at times that I have hundreds of pounds worth of stuff sitting there and that I should be able to contribute more to things like Children in Need and Philippines Appeal. Just my thought in respect of my own situation, not being judgemental of others:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

For myself I completely agree with this above, when I see how many boxes of unopened stuff I have accumulated and still not managed to start many of them if makes meThere's so much money that is sitting as shower gel/shampoo etc.
I am very frugal and the thought of how much money has been spent is shocking  however I do my best to resist temptation, avoiding toiletries aisles in shops or just avoiding these shops all together. I do feel that my bank balance is better for it, but it's quite a sobering thought when I count the money upLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -

Lush lord of misrule (I think) - have a few more left but wasnt overwhelmed.
30ml DHC cleansing oil - WBA I like this as a first cleanse. Have more in stash.
75ml Stella body milk - a pink candle ive been 'saving'. I now only have 1 left in my stash. Would happily use again if gifted but WNBA myself as it doesnt justify the price tag.No more buying toiletries0 -

I tried to post a reply last night using our viewpoint but she decided not to post it.
So, if anyone comes here from her blog, here it is:
We all have weaknesses and it takes a lot to recognize it. I personally don't drink or smoke. I just have a weakness for pretty packaging.
Many on our thread give away our surpluses to homeless shelters and homes for victims of domestic violence.
In the past, Ilona, you have written about happily accepting gifts of these products from your friend. Don't go being judgmental lest you be judged.
It's not the exact post but it gets my opinion across.
I don't go on her site and decry some of her frugal lifestyle choice.
We support lots of business and charities with our choices.
Anyhoo. That's off my chest.
I've just added by tuppence worth, not that it will be approved by moderation (how wonderful to hide behind a screen. Well, an additional screen I suppose ).
I'm really upset by this. I am assuming her little snark about someone having nearly 400 items is aimed at me, as it's right there in my signature for all to see. Not to be all 'farewell cruel world' about it, but after a bad day at work, run ragged and exhausted, it's really upset me to see a spotlight shone on me, and a holier than thou sniggering from someone who frankly, doesn't have squat to do with this place.
I guess I'll be reconsidering how free I am with my personal information here, if other members of MSE are just going to use it as fodder for their own profit.0 -

Try not to let it get to you if you can, our "little obsession" or whatever we might call it could well be difficult for others to understand, indeed, 10 years ago I might well have mocked me! Although I like to think I would not have been making fun of others.
You know my name IRL and will see that both our comments have been published.:D
Onwards and upwards Eh girls, let's continue to support each other in all walks of life, we are an amazing group, whatever others might think. Massive virtual hugs to all.:AThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

It might not be you as I think we have quite a few 400+ members, and even if it is so what! Who are you harming?? It's not nice though if you've had a bad day, sometimes it can feel like the world is against you! Those are the times that we pamper ourselves with our stash and feel that little bit better for it! Its a lovely friendly, genuinely warm, little thread that you can rely on for a lot more than just the toiletries aspect and I'd rather be a part of this than going solo writing a blog that seems to think its perfectly acceptable to have pot shots at other people who are happily going about what they do and not giving anyone any bother.... Sorry, but its annoyed me too
Plenty of threads on this site are very scary places I wouldn't dare to tread for fear of being trolled, here I know that'd never happen or if it did that I'd certainly be defended. All credit to us :T0 -

Hi RL,
Don't let them upset you. I must admit I felt the same as you as I had just posted my list and *almost* came back and deleted it.
BUT if I do that, I won't be addressing my problem and I needed to see it in black and white. A lot of my products are half used because I'm always on the look out for the next best thing.
We can all support each other to reduce our stash and tbh I'd prefer to be me than someone who judges others through the anonymity of their blog.
Some people spend a fortune on bags and shoes, others on holidays or cars. I spend mine on cosmetics and toiletries. I'm not in debt so it is not a problem in that respect, but I AM fed up with having so many "things".
We will get there! :TAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Well said ladies! As evilsquid says, who are they to judge, they don't know our personal circumstances. My stash is considerable but I'm lucky to be financially secure, no debt other than my mortgage and in a tough but very well paid job (and boy did i work hard to get here!) but generally rather frugal - nice toiletries and make-up are my indulgence and one of the few treats I allow myself to make the hard slog seem more worthwhile.
I've not seen Ilona's post (can someone please link?) but this makes me really mad and all seems incredibly petty - presumably she's a sad woman with nothing better to do with her time and jealous of the nice things we've all worked hard to buy (or kindly been gifted)...
Ilona, if you're reading this - youre nothing but a nasty troll.
Rant over! :mad:MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -

Thank you for posting this. I have read her thread and she has quoted my stash list. It's a shame that people have to judge others.
You feel like you have to defend yourself in what you choose to buy and I am quite aware that this is my vice but it is my choice and my money.
Some of her money saving tip are good and some interesting. I do think that I will continue to use toothpaste twice a day rather than only once in the morning. I also think that she should change from paying her gas and electric from quarterly to monthly and use an online tariff to save herself some money.
I have to say this is the first thread I have felt at home on. No one is judgemental and everyone supports each other, thank you all :grouphug:
Anyway hope everyone is well, I am full of cold and am nicely tucked up in bed.
UU's
L'occitane jasmine and bergamote body lotion WNBA I was not the greatest fan of the scent and now winter is setting in I prefer body butters.
Pomegranate active night plus oil 10 ml WNBA I ended up putting this in the above to finish it.
Blister relief cream WBA HG love this for my lips to stop them chapping.0 -
Sorry, I didn't mean to be a diva. It feels like a rotten thorn scratch, it's not going to kill you but you can't just shake it off and ignore it.
Feeling much better now the tiny kitty is curled up on my chest sleeping (possibly drooling, it all feels a bit damp).
I've had some lovely news about my jewellery business and was popping in to say hello before I got cracking on the project I need to complete.
in the meantime I have one UU: Sure Maximum Protection clean fresh deodorant 45ml. My HG especially in summer. As it's cooler now I've replaced it with a sure spray on in crystal clear aqua.
Unfortunately there are soon to be INs as my contact lens deliveries have restarted. But if I don't open the box, they're not really there...0
