Gosh, the wedding is all coming together now :) Are you getting super excited or just frazzled at getting it all organised?

Well done on your grocery shops.

Thanks SmlSave - it is pretty much all done, and because I have spaced out the
organising over a year (year and a half by the time it comes round), it really hasn't been a frazzle at all - Apart from the GUEST LIST!! Lol!

    *****

Yeah, there are a couple of bits left that I have left off - but they will all be done either the day before or the week before so no need to worry about now.

Still a newbie to the whole costco malarkey and it's far enough away that it will def be a once a month/once every 2 months kinda shop.
I am going to trial for the next 6 months or so, and see how it compares to my reg supermarket shop, esp considering YS buying.

Seems to be good value overall, but there is much less choice and some things are much more expensive than the shops.

The key is wastage as well - it's not good value if excess food goes to waste.

Might think about maybe trying to 'share' bulk buys with some friends who live close by. Will see how it goes first though.

Still no overtime at work and this now looks like the default position in the business. I may have to re-evaluate my job, particularly as well with the re-alignment of my job role, as I need the extra money to be honest, but will wait until Easter I think before starting the job hunt for serious. Just already got so much going on. Need to take it chunk by chunk I think and break it down so it doesn't get too overwhelming.
Good thinking, it's not urgent so give yourself the breathing room to tackle things with a clear head when you can, always the best way. :)

Sounds like you did well on the Costco trip :) We're in the same position of not being able to go regularly, it's definitely something that takes a bit of figuring out what works for you (it's been a slow process for us, but we're getting better at weeding out the deals and making the most of what we buy). Bulk buys with friends is probably something we'll be looking into doing in the future as well :)

    Thanks everyone!

Yeah, has been a real relief getting the majority of wedding planning done last year really. To be honest, it hasn't really been a hassle (Please don't shoot me! *cowers from bridezillas* :rotfl:)

    Famous Last Words!!!!

Waiting for a couple of bits and bobs to arrive - this is why I dislike buying online - I want it now, darnit!

    *******
    NSD day yesterday

    *******

Dinner last night of mild chilli (no beans though, swapped that for lots of lovely mixed peppers) and JP. Nice and simple and healthy too!

    *******

So I did my first shop at Costco as you know and wanted to report back on a couple of items that I have bought and tried

    GOOD
Royal Gala Apples - these were much larger than in the shops, a very good price, and they were delicious. Nice and curnchy with good flavour

Scotch Lean Steak Mince - Whilst these come in very large packs, mince is fine to freeze (but may not be good if you have limited freezer space). Good price too, as mince is varely rarely reduced in the SM. Nice flavour, and very lean - hardly any fat which was lovely.

    MAYBES
Choc chip brioche rolls - Def not ideal, nice that they are all individually packaged which makes them great to take to work. Bad on flavour - the brioche was a rather pale colour and lack of flavour showed through. Choc OK but nothing to write home about. Sainsburys choc chip brioche rolls much nicer and better buttery flavour.

    BAD
Toffee filled crepes - Horrible! Very fake tasting toffee. You could tell it was for long life. Crepe itself bland.

Got a very spendy weekend coming up so just trying to allocate a budget for that.

Might possibly have to get a new tyre for the car as well - annoying as it was only repaired a month or so ago. We shall see.

Ooh, I like the Costco Report :T Have filed that away for future reference.

I'm trying to think of what we tend to buy there... it's mostly bottled/branded stuff rather than fresh (can't get it home in time for the fridge/not enough space for it, alas!) but anyway, our favourite at the moment are the massive jars of caramelised red onions, you have to start getting a bit creative with ideas for using it up but it works out insanely cheaper than buying from the supermarkets. It makes meals feel really decadent (who needs takeaways/restaurants etc!) :rotfl:

Yeah, we were cuatious as it was the first time so didn't want to overload on stuff. Mainly bought what was on the nice apart from where it was more expensive than the SM.

P*M - caramelised onions sound divine - I will keep a look out

I will keep reporting back as we did buy other things there as and when we eat them.

    GOOD
Take'n'Bake Chicken Fajita pizza - OH loved this. Loaded with chicken which he was particularly pleased with. Nice chunks of peppers and red onion too. Great for value - it was over £10 but it was massive! Easily bigger than 20" diameter, so a great choice for hungry appetites. A good alternative to a takeaway as it cooks nice and quickly and is a similar cost. Also fab for having people round for the footie or whatever - OH will be buying 3 for his next poker night.

NSD yesterday. Supper was the mince with peppers, but added a bit of paprika, cayenne and chilli flakes and had with rice.

Bought my napkins - at 6.44 - others were at around 13.50 for 200 so very pleased as I wanted a very specific colour.
Still waiting for my parcels to arrive. Really hoping this dress is as described as I really haven't seen anything else that matches what I am thinking of.

    ******

No real money news to report.

Big spendy weekend coming up so trying to see how much it will be - reckon 60-80 petrol, 40 on dinner, and potentially another 100 on entertainment, additional travel(train) and other meals.

My Saturday lunch is being provided though so at least I don't have to worry about that.

Following on from SD's departure, I wanted as well just to give a big :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T for all us small OP'ers.

We may not have the flashy signatures or headlines, but we are doing our thing bit by bit and whatever you can put towards it makes a difference.
