A suggestion about this years advents

For what its worth, I do like One-eye's proposal above.
I also like fnc's
Major respect to anyone who takes this on - I can't cope with advents, but if we go with One-eye's proposal I'm happy to help out a wee bit xx"Knowledge will give you power, but character respect" ~ Bruce Lee0 -
As I had a chat the other night with Fnc about advents, he came up with a superb idea, Let me try to explain without baffling anyone.
A new Mse user name is made ie: Advent User, the login is given to several people (volunteers) who as and when they are around can login and slot the added ones into right posts etc, means not one person will be responsible and the thread should always be uptodate, less stress etc, then the login can be left for next year and used again.
Hope that makes sense.

I had considered this idea but I fear that it would cause problems if two people are editing the same post at the same time. If user A is editing at the same time as user B, then when they submit the result would probably be that only the changes made by the second user to submit would have taken place.0 -
Could you do the shared account through a timetable?
E.g user A 12.15am - 6am
User B 6.15 am - 12pm
User C 12.15pm - 6pm
User D 6.15pm - 12am
That way the other users could make a note of their relevent comps e.g any new RC throughout the day and just post them during their alloted time slot, the 15 minute grace period would stop two users being on at once as well
or is that just a silly idea?:starmod: Looking for the lucky dust :starmod:

I've read what people have suggested (thanks all), my overall point is:
If people want there to be sections/multiple account holders then that's fine, but I'll retract my offer. Not because I want it to myself but genuinely I wouldn't cope with people doing different things at different times in different colours and what have you ...
I cope best if I'm in control of everything.
I sound like a control freak ... sorry .... that's not it, I just know it wouldn't work for me.
But if people want that, then it's fine and someone else can take over the running
So I think it'd be best if something could be decided by the end of this week0 -
Suggestion, why don't we take our lass up on her extremely kind offer, that hopefully she won't regret *guilt* because it's simple and probably could be up and running quickly, by what she says. And it makes sense to me about wanting to do this by yourself OYL. Then you can sort out the system that suits you best.
However, what if you promise that if it starts to get a bit overwhelming, then perhaps come back and holler for help - which would also allow time for that something else to be set up.
I don't think it would be too big a deal to switch systems half way through, if needed. The template thread could be set up and all the advents transferred over into the right sections - hopefully before our Yorkie gal has her nervous breakdown

Thanks Blulu.
I'd like to give people time to read this thread and comment if they wish.
So perhaps a final decision could be made by Friday 1st November @ 7pm0 -
Couple of points
We can't really have numerous stickies if there were separate threads for different entries (although if that's what is decided I could do one locked sticky advent thread with links to all of the threads)
If OYL is willing to go it alone, but it becomes too much halfway through it won't be too hard to convert to one eye's idea as long as there are people to take over, so if you do decide you want OYL to do it maybe a few others could put their names on the subs benchI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. You know my thoughts OneYorkshireLass!
I'm of the thought that if multiple people take this on then each section could end up in a different format and it might get a bit confusing from section to section.
If OYL hasn't already been scared offthen I think if she would still like to do it then that would be fab, if she needs any help then we can be there to give that help, but she would have final say over how the thread goes and the layout of everything.
