A suggestion about this years advents

It was me...:o - and it was totally overwhelming by the end, which is why I think it's a great idea in principle, just not sure if it would work in practise.

I did split it into sections, but it there were so many that overlapped I had to make a lot of sections - I'll find the thread so you can have a look what I mean.

Thinking more about the Rafflecopter thing, the way I understand why they are currently in the daily thread is because you can enter by twitter(?) each day?

I'm thinking that if there are any Rafflecopter Advents then wouldn't the RC form only be open for one day, so one entry only into each competition?

I do remember there were very few Rafflecopter ones last year (and everyone thought there might be a lot them too I think as it was suggested to have a different section) I know there seem to be a lot now, but personally I think that we only notice so many because they're now added to the dailies when they weren't before, so it seems like there's a flood of them?

Just read your thread becky and realized it was you bargainhuntergal lol, my memory is terrible!

Becky, I remember that thread of yours now too, didn't realize it was the BG's who essentially said no to the idea so this thread could be pointless if that's the case again?

bargainhuntergal, you were an absolute star last year, I do remember how many there were and that was without the expected rafflecopter ones, if we aren't going to be allowed stickys then, would you have any other ideas seeing as you are the most recent advent person?

Yes I agree with you about most of the RC comps being open for one day, it will just be the sheer amount of them that will be hard to handle imo. They will then have the twitter entry every day thereafter though. And I hate them :rotfl:

The only thing I can think rather than one person doing a thread is a temporary sub board for Advents and every advent gets posted/moved into there, but knowing how the last conversation went about sub boards....maybe not :rotfl: as I know a lot of people say they don't like them or want to use them. I just don't know how else it can be done.

I found last years thread there a section in post number 8 with comps that had multiple ways of entry.

I'm not surprised you hate them! It's totally crazy how many there are now that can be entered once a day! Thankfully I don't 'do' FB or Tw, so I don't do them! :rotfl:

Just looking at your thread last year, you set it up on 3rd November, so that's only a few days away :eek::eek:

If we aren't allowed stickys, could we set the boards up anyway and bump them so they stay on the first page? Or is that naughty? :A

They'd probably get bumped up all the time anyway, closer to December, with everything being added to them.

It was November, but I think there were only a couple until later in November. I just wanted to give people chance to add them as they were posted.

So we could do it if that's what people wanted, how about a 5th Advent board for the mixed entry ones? Would that be a solution perhaps?

Or, failing that, is there a volunteer who wants to do the whole Advent thread this year?

I "Think" that's what will happen for the RC's. It will be a one day RC which I would post on the main comp board anyway & just won't be linking to the daily thread, the ones that are more than one day could still go onto the normal daily thread, so don't "think" there will be a need for a RC advent thread anyway.

I post 90% of the RC's & I love doing it as there have been so many winners from MSE wins are wins!.

So basically I will just need to keep doing what I am doing now :beer:

Edut to say, do you remember all the negative comments about twitter when KatieL started posting them on the forum?

Think people will get used to the Rc's just like they did the twitter comps
