Another SFD - stayed at home and made a start on some of my handmade christmas presents. Sticking to meal plan so far - leftover soup for lunch and leftover casserole for tea, and still a portion of each left for tomorrow.

    Hello ,

used my third spend day and did my grocery shop yesterday and although it was meant to be a small one overall I spend too much I think (no treats or anything though). Also needed to stick a tenner in the car. Need to tally up my receipts tomorrow and put them in my spreadsheet and signature. Otherwise had a really lazy day yesterday.
Today was SFD number 14. DS and I popped into town today. Parking was free and the only money spend came out of the christmas pot. I bought various items for hubbies and my parent's christmas chilli hampers. Also spend my last survey amazon vouchers on a new beanie and snout thingy for OH. OH cleared out the car port today and took loads of stuff to the dump and I cut down all the dead plants in the front garden. So a more productive day today.
As we'll have a new wee on next spring I won't have that much time to transform our backyard mudpatch (removed all the red chuckies this year and built retaining walls) into a garden so we decided to just try to get grass down and seed potatos in the future veg patch (meant to be really beneficial to prepare it that way in year one) plus we'll get free tatties :D. Better start looking into that and where to get seed potatoes. Any suggestions?

We were planning to see friends near Aberdeen next weekend but that might be cancelled which would be good for our purses. Might start looking at wedding venues instead and declutter a bit.

    Sorry for the long post

    Bye for now

  • Good Evening one and all...

I have been baking today. I made a lemon drizzle of the vegan variety that didn't really rise properly for work tomorrow as we are doing a collection stylee bake sale for the Philippines disaster. Since its a rubbish lemon drizzle I shall be donating the epicly amazing banana walnut cake I made before it. Don't worry I still have half a banana tree's worth to bake another cake tomorrow.... I LOVE BANANAS!

So Saturday AND Sunday were spendy days IN TESCO's... Why can't I stay out of that place??? Saturday I was with my besty friend and her bub as church was shut this week.... her hubby is in Burma with an aid agency and will be off to the Phillippines next week so we thought we would go out without him..... to a garden centre that has animals and a merry-go-round..right up my street!!

... then went to look in Tescos and I spoiled an SFD for vegan ice-cream for £3.79..

Today however was a trip for sugar for todays cakes - I came home with more than just sugar.

My food budget is well and truly busted! I am ashamed. But I will be planning better for next month... don't worry it won't be as hard as this one Stewby!

SO thank you for all your kind words re my self-inflicted hard life...:rotfl: ...I am cancelling my shift on Sunday that's coming in order to go to my friends birthday outing at an indoor rainforest (yes really) near Reading... never heard of it but it sounds SO cool! I have realised I needed a life for a long time and this is my one outing for the month...

Dorothy the Mog says hello.. she is on my lap attempting to type to hoUDnbfdsjhngb .. honestly..

So Lily Allen's store has gone up the creek... they gave me a credit note for £155 for a dress I returned so I am panicking... I am going in tomorrow to see if there is ANYTHING I can get with it and sell it on eBay a it's hard to find anything in my size... am sick now with worry that I won't get my money's worth.

That's my news for the weekend... totals will be updated tomorrow...(gulp)..Thursday see's the next step towards getting my sabbatical signed off... they want to have a "chat" cause I am asking for the full entitlement of time off... haha!.

Right to bed for me and Moggy... Good night sweet world!!

  • Hey all..

Yesterday had a planned spend day and an amazing night out in Manchester! Today = SFD number 11

I'm working my way through the food I brought with me... even down to the rivita I had in the back of my store cupboard! That will mean come December I will have zero food in except a few bits in the freezer and some pulses.

So - it's just under 2 weeks until the end of the month and I have £100 to last me. That's pretty good going for me!!! That's without spending my reserves - and just living off my usual budget despite being on holiday... Feels like I'm getting even finally!

    :)

  • Didn't report in yesterday so doing a catch up. I've finished all my scheduled mystery shops. I might accept some more, but only if they're convenient and I can squeeze them in around work. OH has been annoyed with me this weekend over the amount of time I've spent doing them. Apparently he thinks that I don't need to.

OH did grocery shopping today I've added it to he total. Also I spent £7 on a treat for the kids.

    Petrol £24.43 / £67.50
    Groceries £177.41 / £200
    'Outings' £25 / £30
    Food Bank 0 / £3

    Unbudgeted spends: Me £7 / OH £27.42

    :j

So... spend-free day 13/25 completed and lunch at work again.

I have a stupid question but I am looking for some completely random information. Has anyone seen the advert for VW with all the dogs?? I am wondering what type of it is that is running behind the car??
OH and I are thinking about getting a dog in the future and it is so cute, we are thinking we want one of them. Sorry but thank you for any information.
    :o

Erm... I don't know what else to say except... only 8 more days until disneyland!!

  • Morning all

I haven't updated for AGES as the winter bugs have well and truly hit our house. As they've hit me too it means I've been laid low in terms of energy and impetus to do much with regards to the debt - no extra selling has gone on and I've not been updating my totals on here.
However, on the plus side it means that spending has practically been at zero since I last updated as we've not been anywhere or done anything :o

My confession for the month - although I think I've done pretty well with many aspects of the challenge - is that I have discovered I'm not very good at recording it!! So, without going through all the pages to find my last post I don't have my monthly totals recorded. Fear not, I am not totally useless, as I have my own financial records, they are just not in monthly form as this is not how all my money comes in. So, I will give my own version of updates as follows:

Food: definitely within budget. Germs have made us stay away from the general public for most of the last week therefore cooking from stores with the occasional visit for that pesky milk.

Toiletries/beauty: would take a lot more than £10 to make me look anywhere near beautiful at the moment, so have adopted the "don't go out in public so as not to scare anyone" approach instead. No further spends.

Food bank: Not done yet. Will defo do this as soon as feel well enough to go near the relevant establishments.

Decluttering: Woohooooo!! If in doubt, declutter! Managed above and beyond this before germs set in.

Outings: No further outing-y type spending since the small overspend at the start of the challenge.

Making money: £5/£80 This is on hold as I've literally not had the energy.

Right, big hugs to all for the Monday morning fun and games :) I'm off to get ready to ring the docs, as I'm quite sure coughing up green stuff when you're pregnant can't be the best state of affairs :o

Morning everyone..... cakey bakey sale has seen the delivery of lots og goodies. I am not going to spend today - there will be more then enough greedy gorbs to pay for a slice of this and a slice of that...

Siouxsie... how are you going to raise £3110.66 ( to get you to £16,999) by the end of the year - do you have enough OT complete for £1500 per payday for the 31st November and the 31st December..? I know you can do it I just want to know how...(nosey mare)...

Daisystar I am not too good at recording mine either. I have some recipts with me today so I might tot it all up but as a few of you had pointed out thank goodness it's payday soon although for me it's 12 days away...

Everyone seems to be making progress with eBay sales which I am super proud of. Baking and general faffing about got in the way of me photographing all my teacups.. I think they need to be done this week as one more thing to cross of my list....

Right over to my own thread for a wee update!

  • Hi all, back from weekend away and was in budget :) had great time but got a horrid cold so some of the holiday budget was wasted in boots at the airport stocking up! Massive scabby nose now :(

    Think my totals are-

    SFD 10/25
    Food 22.81/£100
    Donation 0/£3
Lunch- lost count but everyday so far :)
    Declutter 0/20
    make £80- £158.10/£80 :j

Not sure my make £80 is up to date as don't think it includes the mystery shops I did on Wed. Will update layer when I put the laptop on.

So lazy day off work today. Pay day tomorrow so going to turn my work laptop on later to check how much my pay will be as this is my second month after pay rise but had back pay last time. Going to advance my food budget and do the big monthly shop today. Don't consider this cheating as have enough to last until tomorrow but I am at work all day so convenient to go today. Decided to go to lidl and asda but going to checkout farmfoods first as had a leaflet through door and they have v cheap milk and frozen veg.

Also going to make l&p soup as got some frozen leeks to use. Will also sort the stuff for charity to take next Sat.

Deviating whether to sell my Wii as very rarely play on it but do occasionally. Could probably get £45/50 for it with the board on work intranet. Will have a ponder
