    SFDs - 6/25
    Groceries - £108/ 240
    Lunch to work - 10/20
    Declutter - 20+/20 items
    Earn - £21.25/80
    Toiletries - £3/£10
    Social - 2/3
    Xmas - £90/£150
    CC Paid in full

Payday today so the CC has been paid in full again. Been re-jigging my budgets and have ordered £40 of vouchers to cover some xmas pressies so I reckon we have a "spoil ourselves as we're not working" budget of £50 this weekend. Hubby wants to go out for an Indian tonight (usually costs about £50 as we really spoil ourselves but I want to get this down to no more than £30 - why do we buy overpriced wine in restaurants?) and we're going xmas shopping tomorrow which will involve lunch out (going to suggest grabbing a couple of bacon butties - £5 max) leaving us £15 for 3 rounds of drinks at our local on Sunday.

I know I'll lose 3 SFDs but these days it's rare for one of us to not be working at the weekend. I haven't told him my budget because if he feels "limited" he'll want to spend more. This is just between me and you NOvemberers ;)

Wow what a fab post NSK. Just wanted to say you have inspired so many of us to take this journey and yeah noone is perfect and stuff happens but I think everyone is doing really well to achieve their goals even if we do have the odd I need chocolate/beer/wine/luxury foam bath moment or I just fancy fish and chips moment.
I think you should do an epilogue thread at the end of the month what everyone has learnt ad how they have progressed. I don't get spreadsheets but I have a note pad, pen and calculator and I have been sat working out how long it will take me individually to be debt free so I can help DH to clear his debts. A few months ago I wouldn't have been doing this.
The goal for us is a Disneyland Paris holiday in Feb 2015. I am saving hard for it and I am determined to have a wonderful holiday where we don't have to budget every second because we have saved enough money to enjoy it.

  • Had my 'outing' last night. Had a great time, drunk too much - but not so much that I made an idiot of myself. Spent £25 which was a bit  but within budget and I'm trying not to feel guilty.

Nothing else to report. Doing mystery shop later. 10 days til pay day. Can't wait.

    Petrol £24.43 / £67.50
    Groceries £96.92 / £200
    'Outings' £25 / £30

  • Afternoon all! today is definitely not a SFD for us. My OH has gone to work asking for £5 to do some charity stuff at work. He can throw stuff at his boss who will be locked in stocks for £2 and then he wanted to do the tombola too. Hope he wins something we can give as a present!! lol.

Going to do a big clear out of my room before getting DD from school in 2 hours so I best get my bum in gear! got to find some stuff to put on ebay. Also need a clear out of DD's room. Shes got so much stuff she doesn't play with that can be sold and new toys be bought that are more suited to her age.

Hope everyone had a good day! will be staying home tonight and watching children in need with some popcorn we've bought and a big glass of coke. Sounds like a winner :) x

Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

  • Is great reading everyone's stories... I don't always comment - but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate everyone's writings - I do. The post just moves so fast I struggle keeping up sometimes ha ha!!!

Kat - what an amazing achievement. You've done loads with your life already and you have clear goals to aim for... I think that's the key.

My next 5 year Plan involves saving for a house deposit, saving £1K for each of my niece and nephew for when they hit 18 or 21 (they're 6 and 10 at the moment), and to save for a holiday for me somewhere hot. Sure I can do a lot more in 5 years... just need to apply myself and get in some of that OT you do!!!

    SFD 10 today hopefully :)

:(Just call me a bimbo, d'oh! I've just realised I've been reading my online credit card account incorrrectly as I've been reading it like a regular bank account statement. I've been looking at what it shows me on screen rather than the monthly statement when working out how much I need to pay to pay off the balance in full. The on screen details include purchases not yet added to my statement so I've actually overpaid this month...a whopping £170! My own fault really for trying to ensure I paid in full early to avoid interest charges.
    D'OH! D'OH! D'OH!

I must be patient and wait for my online statement next time:o

Well what an interesting little bunch we all are. Was feeling tad fed up till I read even Kat is on the already overcrowded naughty step.

Whilst my debt isn't going down at all at the moment, trying to absorb costs of a new front door, hopefully will reach target of 9500 before xmas

Whilst I haven't bought hardly any food this month realise now I need to follow Kerfuffle's example of lots of different categories next month. As due to a loophole on New Look website I bought lots of stuff which came thru at 1/2 price. Leather boots at 32.50 had to be done so stuffed 45 into my food spending budget. plus I badly needed leggings.
Now as I have visitors next week this is where I will be found out. Think a Chilli could be made from store ingredients and another blackberry crumble. Plus my freezer could be starting to get low soon.

Just wondering who has got highest SFD's so far, my 9 includes today.

Wish I had the opportunity to do overtime Kat. Not sure I could cope with so little sleep tho. I can relate to losing friends when trying to save. They get fed up of asking you out for meals, nights out.
Well lodger hopefully away this weekend so heating can be kept to a minimum. Got lots of holidays left in work might try and see if they will pay me for a week of them - worth a try?

Great thread here Kat. Thanks fot the motivation folks onwards and upwards x

This resonated with me quite strongly this morning and I was going to ask Siouxsie on the quiet if her tranistion to a Vegan life was costing her more.

Yes yes yes!! It's costing a bloomin fortune, but I feel much better! Last month was more expensive I think as I was 'setting up' and bought a lot of supplementary powders to add to smoothies (Maca, Lucuma, Green Algae and the like) and it has settled down a bit this month but I'm definitely spending more than I used to on fruit and veg (why does it cost £2 for a few figs and plums? Berries cost £2 a punnet and don't even get me started on fresh young coconuts...although they're super yummy and super good for you!). I have £10.81 left in my food budget and we're at the exact half way point in the month  I can probably manage on that (although I still have half of my misc budget left that I can dip into for food if I have to!).

Talking of coconuts, I bought a coconut cutter (have you tried to open those things? Without chopping your hand off?) Anyway, I bought it online a few months ago and didn't receive it. The company refunded me and it showed up today :D I'll keep my mouth shut I think. They have my credit card details so can charge me again if they realise it's been delivered

Thanks for the freecycle reminder apple muncher. I can't believe I didn't think of that! I'll also look for an electric blanket there, that might be a solution as well. My trusty hot water bottle just doesn't cut it when I can't get to sleep cos I'm cold!

Get saving Abundant, nieces and nephews get more expensive as they get older! I found myself volunteering to pay my nieces rent for a few months so she can move back in with her M+D and take a bit of time off work (she's having a rough pregnancy and sometimes mama's hugs are the only things that can make them feel better!!). I must look into what her rights are as she currently isn't getting paid for time off and I can't help thinking that might not be right! My sister's the one to go to for hugs and I'm the one to come to for financial advice :D

Got a free £5 Amazon voucher just for being an EE customer :D Anyone any ideas what you can buy for £5 on Amazon? I'll have a ponder later....

Just getting read for work - it's going to be another cold night tonight....stay warm everyone and have a nice night! I would recommend a hot water bottle and Children In Need :)
  • Just been told my expenses will be paid on Tuesday. They are enough to cover all our budgeted outgoings for December, so come pay day all the money I get paid will be mine! :)
